Step back in time at Dean’s Lounge in Potts Point.

While Dean’s Lounge is an exciting new opening for Sydney, it takes inspiration from Potts Point’s past. In fact, you might remember a spot called Dean’s Cafe which was a Kings Cross stalwart from 1976 to 2011. And now, Dean’s Lounge delivers a fresh new take on this original venue.

Swinging open its doors last month, Dean’s Lounge finds its home in the heart of Potts Point. Inside, you’ll find a cosy drinking den perfect for sipping cocktails, chowing down on late-night snacks, playing retro video games, or spinning your favourite tracks from the bar’s vintage jukebox.

Gather your crew and settle in for a night of good food, delicious drinks, and great company. Dean’s Lounge feels akin to a well-loved living room, with comfortable lounge seating and lived-in decor that makes this cocktail bar an instant local favourite.

The bar is the brainchild of Justin and Louka Marmot (owners of Barangaroo’s Shirt Bar). Rumor has it that the pair actually met at Dean’s Cafe back in the early 2000s. Inside their new venue, you’ll find plenty of space for intimate private dinners and large group bookings, as well as a front deck and open courtyard perfect for a sunset cocktail.

Speaking of drinks, there’s plenty to sip your way through at Dean’s Lounge. Try one of their signature cocktails, including a Brooklyn Sunset ($22, Rittenhouse Rye, Strawberry Shrub, Dry Vermouth, Absinthe), a light and sour Queen Collins ($19, Eristoff Vodka, Lemon Juice, Nashi pear, Vanilla, Chamomile Soda) or even a spicy and bright Golden Glow ($22, Pure Scot Scotch, Mango, Lime, Pimento, Chipotle).

As for eats, dig into housemade jaffles, Dean’s classic bean nachos, cheese boards as well as a line-up of cakes baked in-house (including sticky date pudding, baked cheesecake, and flourless chocolate cake).
