Your favourite recipes are being printed on posters to brighten up your walls in lockdown.
If being in lockdown has made you notice your bare walls, we’ve found something to brighten them up. Food For Everyone is printing A2 culinary posters featuring a selection of recipes from Sydney chefs. Founded by the Melbourne-based artist Gemma Leslie, the organisation is not-for-profit and helps to raise funds for Food Banks in NSW and VIC. If that isn’t cool enough, you should see the posters.
Gemma’s concept was founded during the Coronavirus pandemic when she decided to combine her passion for food, community and design. She wanted to help put food on the table for those who need it the most while bringing joy into people’s homes through art and colour. The idea is that people get the prints and create the food to share with friends and family. We attached so many memories to the meals we’ve enjoyed with our loved ones and this is a way to have some positive memories come out of lockdown.
From August 2020 to February 2021, all donations were donated to Fareshare. This national food charity rescues food that would otherwise go to landfills and uses volunteer cooks to create nutritious meals. They started cooking 300 pies every Saturday morning in 2001 and have since offered more than 40,000 meals every week. More people are relying on Foodshare every day and these donations are helping feed thousands of people.
From the Handmade Tiramisu recipe by Julia Busuttil Nishimura, Cumulus Inc’s Tuna Tartare with Crushed Peas by Andrew McConnell, Firedoor’s Pipis, Karkalla and Native Citrus by Lennox Hastie or Pappardelle with Prawn and Zucchini by Ellie Bouhadana, there are so many recipes to choose from.
