In honour of the Margarita’s 75th anniversary, Cointreau and Londres 126 unite to craft an exclusive menu and cocktail pairing experience.
Cointreau, the preferred triple sec brand that many of us hold dear, is marking a remarkable milestone – 75 years of the Margarita cocktail. This celebration sees Cointreau partnering with Londres 126, a newly cherished Mexican establishment under the Milpa Collective umbrella. Nestled in the heart of Sydney’s CBD, this high-end cantina embarks on a culinary journey through Mexican cuisine and mezcal, all set within a surreal 1940s-salon-like ambiance reminiscent of the legendary fiestas hosted by Frida Kahlo. It’s a truly fitting location for such a commemoration.
From the 10th of October through the end of the month, Londres 126 invites you to partake in a unique pairing experience, a tribute to the Margarita’s versatility and timeless appeal. An exquisitely curated set menu, with a specially crafted Margarita to accompany each course, awaits your indulgence.
The journey commences with a nod to the classic Margarita that started it all, the “75th Margarita,” perfectly paired with the savoury delights of Crispy Pork Belly and Leek Corn Esquites.
Moving on to the main course, the “French Cooler,” a refreshing Margarita variant, cleanses the palate. It harmonises beautifully with the Grilled Mackerel, Brussels Sprouts, and Cauliflower Steak which promises to be a favourite amongst vegetarians.
The dessert course features the “Palomita,” a sweet and tangy Margarita-infused treat. You have a choice between two delightful options – the decadent Tres Leches Cake, enriched with the exquisite twist of Cointreau, or the Raspberry Cointreau Sorbet, a guilt-free indulgence to conclude your meal.
This exceptional experience is available for $120 per person and includes a 3-course menu thoughtfully paired with Cointreau-infused Margarita cocktails.
In addition to the curated menu, Londres 126 will offer a selection of Margarita specials throughout the month for $18 each. Indulge in classics like the Margarita and the 75th Margarita, or explore exciting variations such as Espresso Borracho, French Cooler, and Palomita. These special Margaritas have been thoughtfully curated by Cointreau’s global brand ambassador Kevin Sueiro and Londres 126 Mixologist Enzo Boragno.
Cointreau is more than just a triple sec; it’s an orange liqueur crafted with a blend of sweet and bitter orange peel, enhancing the flavours of cocktails. Hailing from Saint-Barthélemy-d’Anjou, France, Cointreau holds a special place in the Margarita’s history. This timeless cocktail was born when Dallas socialite Margarita Sames mixed her two favourite spirits – Cointreau and tequila – along with lime juice while vacationing in Acapulco in 1948. This original recipe has remained a beloved classic for over 75 years.
