Cockatoo Island’s sold-out Sunset Sessions are back for 2019

Drink, Eat, Play, Sydney / 18 November 2019

Head to the heart of Sydney Harbour for live music, delicious treats and drinks every Saturday night this summer.

Located just a short ferry ride from Circular Quay you’ll find one of Sydney’s most picturesque locations. Renowned as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Cockatoo Island has become an enviable destination for food, arts and culture. A former convict penal establishment and ship dockyard, the island has re-emerged in recent years as the home of Australia’s largest visual arts event, the Biennale of Sydney, along with regular live performances by musicians such as Lorde and Justin Bieber.

Now in its second year, Cockatoo Island’s Sunset Sessions kicks off this Saturday, November 23rd and continues all throughout summer until March 28th 2020. After last year’s sell-out season of events, this year’s live music series is set to be bigger (and more popular) than ever. Every Saturday evening from 5pm to 8pm, head to the Bileola Lawn on Cockatoo Island to enjoy three hours of home-grown and international talent with a rotating selection of live music acts each week.

The Sunset Series line-up, presented by the Harbour Trust, has been programmed by underground music venue 505 as well as Music & Booze Co. (responsible for programming the King Street Crawl and Bad Friday music festivals). For those wanting a sneak peek of what to expect at this year’s events, tune into the Sunset Sessions Spotify playlist here.

Across 12 dates, 24 artists will take to this alfresco stage to entertain crowds with original tracks and inspired covers. But, live entertainment is just the start of what’s on offer. Every Sunset Sessions evening will feature a range of sweet and savoury treats for punters to enjoy courtesy of the island’s on-site Marina Cafe & Bar. Expect everything from Connoisseur ice cream to house-made grazing boards, gourmet pies, cracker and dip boxes, chips and nuts to snack your way through during the evening.

In need of a refreshment? Make sure to head for the mobile bar at the event to purchase on-tap refreshments from the likes of Byron Bay Brewery, James Squire and Tatachilla Wines.

Cockatoo Island’s Sunset Sessions series will by running every Saturday evening (5pm to 8pm) from November 23rd 2019 to March 29th 2020. Tickets ($30 per adult) can be purchased online with pre-booking recommended due to limited availability at the door. To find out more about the event and to secure your spot, click here.
