Join thousands of Australians on a hiking challenge along Sydney’s most beautiful coastal tracks to raise funds for the National Heart Foundation.
If you’re still seeking motivation to kickstart your 2023 fitness goals, we’ve found the perfect event for you. Round up four friends and join thousands of Australians in the Coastrek hiking challenge! The event kicked off back in 2009 and has since been Sydneysider’s favourite way to explore our most iconic coastal trails and raise money for the National Heart Foundation’s lifesaving research programs.
Taking place on Friday 24th March in Sydney’s Northern Beaches, choose to hike 60km, 45km, 30km, or 20km from Palm Beach to Balgowlah Heights. Take in the sights of clifftop views, picturesque rocky headlands, stretches of golden sand, and fabulous trails in nature. Hikers will expand their comfort zone and do something that’s not only great for their hearts but for hearts all over Australia.
Trekkers will set off early morning from Newport (45km start line), North Narrabeen (30km start line), or for night owls, a brand new ‘Twilight 20km’ distance is offered this year – starting at 5pm from Long Reef and taking advantage of Sydney’s magic daylight savings twilight, with all events crossing the finish line in Balgowlah.
This spectacular coastal trail is situated on Guringai country, the land of the Garigal and Gayamaygal people, with Indigenous place names reflected throughout the route including Curl Curl, or ‘curial curial’ meaning ‘river of life’; and Elanora, meaning ‘camp by the sea’.
So what are you waiting for? Round up your crew to experience Sydney at its very best and raise money for a great cause. See you there!
