Cake Wines Open Inner City Cellar Door
Five years ago, the young and independent wine producers Cake Wines sold their products out of the back of a truck. Today, it has grown to be a thriving company and is set to take on it’s next endeavour. They have just opened their first permanent cellar door in Redfern and we’re sure it’s going to take the cake!
Popping the cork last Thursday 10th March, this marks the next step in the young brand’s career, which we’re sure will grow better with age, just like a fine bottle of wine.
Opening in a restored warehouse on Eveleigh Street in Redfern, the industrial space with high ceilings, brick backdrop and recycled furniture is set to play host to many cultural wine events. There will be weekly wine tastings, low-key drink sessions and dancing on Fridays nights with an evolving music roster of some of the country’s most interesting DJ’s and live acts.
Cake Wines’ full range of 2014 and 2015 wines will be available by the glass and bottle alongside a selection of local small-batch wines, handpicked by Cake staff. There will also be local beers and cider and a small selection of craft spirits. And to eat, there’s the perfect menu to match a few glasses of wine, with artisan meats and cheese.
They’re planning to host talks, workshops and even a School of Wine to teach you a delicious thing or two. The first scheduled event is called the Ideas Academy which is happening on the 30th March, to discuss and debate the future of wine. You can buy tickets here.
Mosey on down to Redfern for a good glass of wine paired with a good time.
