Tucked away in Redfern is a local favourite inspired by the bustling bistros of France. Bistro St Jacques has been serving inner-city locals since 2013, modeled after a traditional Paris bistro, Café Constant, run by Michelin-starred chef, Christian Constant. This modest terrace conversion delivers a nostalgic nod to Parisian cafe culture with delicious French home cooking featuring front-and-centre on this menu.
And this month, the team from Bistro St Jacques are launching an exciting new at-home dining experience for local diners. From August 12th, Bistro On A Bike will offer two exciting at-home menus for diners within a 5km radius of the Redfern-based restaurant. This new offering brings outstanding interpretations of traditional French bistro fare to your door, meaning Sydneysiders can now enjoy a taste of la belle France at home!
The two menus available include Aperitif Hour Hamper @ Home’, a pre-packaged hamper complete with hors-d’œuvres and wine for hosting the ultimate Aperitif hour and ‘French Bistro @ Home’, for the full French-inspired dining experience.
Both takeaway experiences also offer the option to add on a French Magnum (1500ml) or Jeroboam (4.5L) to keep spirits high during your at-home dining experience.
Bistro St Jacques’ Aperitif Hour Hamper @ Home gives you the choice of 2 hampers ($95 or $120), each designed to feed 4 people. Enjoy a smorgasbord of French-inspired snacks and treats, including house-baked breads, local and international cheeses and cold-cut meats, freshly shucked Pambula oysters and a sublime scorched duck liver parfait!
As for Bistro St Jacques’ French Bistro @ Home, you can order from the venue’s seasonal menu and receive FREE delivery within 5km of the Redfern bistro. The at-home delivery menu includes signature dishes such as Bistro St Jacques’ Twice-backed goat’s cheese soufflé with parsley sauce; Onion soup slow cooked in red wine and beef stock; and Seared scallops on mushroom duxelles and gruyere béchamel gratinée. Mains include Confit duck leg cassoulet and the wildly popular steak frites, accompanied by a bordelaise sauce of red wine and bone marrow reduction.
