New Opening: Meet Beckett’s Bar & Dining Glebe, A Glamourous Mid-Century Parisian Bistro

Drink, Eat, Restaurants, Sydney / 7 April 2021

Head to Beckett’s Bar & Dining for a luxurious dining experience in Glebe.

Located on Glebe Point Road, you might have noticed a new restaurant open its doors. Co-owned by Wendy Beckett (a renowned theatre director) and chef Jeff Schroeter (Bistro Moncur, Bayswater Brasserie), Beckett’s Bar & Dining is the exciting new bistro and bar from the duo.

One look at this new dining room will reveal it takes inspiration from the opulent bistros and bars of Paris, New York, and London in the mid-20th Century. With sandstone interiors and even a resident pianist playing four nights a week, it’s the kind of venue you visit for a special occasion.

Beckett’s hopes to breathe new life into the former Darling Mills site (pioneers of farm-to-table dining in Sydney) with a destination created by locals, for the local neighbourhood.

This historic venue delivers a menu of revived bistro classics, a stellar wine list, and even a cocktail bar crafted by world-famous drinks ambassador, Charlie Ainsbury.

On the menu, you’ll find timeless dishes with a touch of glamour. Expect extravagant dishes such as Siberian Reserve Caviar Baerri Black Polanco ($134) and Appellation Oysters ($28 for a half dozen). There’s also Thievery Stolen Hummus ($15), Organic Chicken Liver Parfait ($17), and a must-try Vanilla Lobsters ($55).

As for the drinks list, expect a stellar selection of Martinis (with four variations to choose from) along with Aperitifs, plenty of seasonal gins, and a substantial selection of wines by the glass and bottle (perfect to enjoy with a nibble in their cocktail lounge).

Beckett’s Bar & Dining is now open at 134A Glebe Point Road, Glebe. Open Wednesday to Sunday from 5 pm. To find out more and secure your spot, click here.
