A Free Four-Day Long Bastille Festival Is Returning To Sydney

Play, Sydney / 4 July 2023

Celebrate 10 years of French food, wine, and art revolution at the Bastille Festival in Circular Quay.

Gear up to sprinkle some French magic into your life as the Bastille Festival returns this July, bringing an impressive lineup of over 100 vendors, 10 tons of cheese and 10,000 litres of wine. Bastille Festival will take over Circular Quay, extending all the way into the Rocks, and will be a four-day festival extravaganza combining the best vibrant cultures and flavours from every corner of France. Feast on gourmet French delicacies, awe-inspiring art exhibitions, and a river of delicious mulled wine as you immerse yourself in a whirlwind of the best that France has to offer.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Bastille Festival, so you know the celebrations are going to be bigger and better than ever. Visit the Parisian Village at Customs House where you’ll be treated to all your favourite French street foods – from freshly rolled crepes, saucisson, french cheeses and raclette in all its melted grilled cheese goodness. The Chefs Village at MCA will also host some of Sydney’s best chefs and restaurants coming together to create dishes with a unique French twist. Indulge in Camembert Arancini, Creamy Mushroom Gnocchi and even French Paella to name a few, then finish off your night with French Jam Churros.

For something a little more entertaining, get into the spirit of French joie de vivre as The Rocks host the Le Mulled Wine Cinema, combining classic French films, warm mulled wine and cosy blankets. Settle into a deck chair and let the picturesque setting of the outdoors transport you to the streets of Paris, as the cinema plays titles like Marie Antoinette, Ratatouille and La Vie En Rose. Perfect for a romantic date night or an occasion to bring the whole family to.

The main stage at First Fleet Park will come alive with an opening night cabaret show, French DJ Party and live concerts. The festivities kick off with a mesmerising free cabaret show by the renowned “Les Femmes Diamant”, setting the stage for an unforgettable experience. Then it’s time to put on your dancing shoes with Swing dance classes and Samba lessons to keep you on your feet. They’ll also be DJ parties happening on the main stage so you can dance the night away.

On top of all the food delights and entertainment, you can also expect a French wine walk spanning eight regions (with a trusty tour guide and French wine passport included), as well as more than 50 performances by talented buskers, fire dancers, live artists and more. The Bastille Festival is happening from Thursday 13 July to Sunday 16 July. For more information, visit their website here.
