Bar Tag Season 2: Amanda Verratti, Miss Peaches at The Marly

Bar Tag, Drink, Sydney / 9 August 2017

Watch certified veggo Amanda from Miss Peaches construct a cocktail using…pork crackling!

Ah Pork crackling, the crème de la crème of any hearty roast dinner! Used as the key ingredient in a cocktail? Now that we have to see to believe. In this week’s episode of Bar Tag Season 2, Amanda Verratti from Miss Peaches (nominated by Isaac Cunningham from Chophouse) was challenged to create a cocktail using pork cracking. If such an ingredient wasn’t enough, it just so happens that Amanda is a certified vegetarian. A hefty dose of creativity combined with a certified taste tester (one willing and able Ms Darlinghurst) helped transform this whacky thought into a wonderful reality.
Watch all the action for yourself below.

Opening its doors back in 2013, Ms Peaches (Soul Food Kitchen) offers a slice of the deep south on Newtown’s vibrant King Street. Fit out with a spacious exposed brick bar, Ms Peaches (Soul Food Kitchen) comes with plenty of ol’ Southern charm, evidenced in everything from their epic food menu to fun and flirty cocktail list. Not for the faint hearted, indulge in delicious food items like Ms Peaches signature baked brie with toasted cornbread or biscuits in creole gravy. There’s also finger licking fried chicken, drunken prawns and grits plus a hefty burger list, just to name a few. Not only do they offer an impressive list of house made sodas (think ginger beer, watermelon fizz and southern lemonade, all $5) but also an extensive range of highball cocktails plus southern inspired signature drinks paired with twisted classics. If all that wasn’t enough, you’re also able to unleash your inner dance queen/king with swing dancing classes every Wednesday night or Rock N Roll at the Roadhouse on a Thursday night.
