Amphora Wine Bar Takes Waterside Dining To A Whole New Level

Drink, Sydney / 27 October 2021

Fancy drinking top-notch wine with iconic views of Sydney Harbour Bridge? Amphora is set to give you just that this Spring!

There are few things Sydneysiders love more than perching up at a bar and sipping their way through the afternoon in good company. With so many incredible bars to choose from in Sydney, it often takes more than just a good wine list to spark our interests, and a huge drawcard comes with the venues surrounding views. With that said, Sydney is about to score a brand new wine bar with iconic waterfront views of Sydney Harbour. Need we say more?

Located within Luna Park, Amphora Wine Bar will boast uninterrupted views of Sydney Harbour, Harbour Bridge and Opera House. Amphora is just minutes away from North Sydney and Sydney CBD which means it’s easily accessible by ferry, bus or train. The perfect destination for your post-work tipple, weekend catch-ups and especially if you want to impress someone special.

The bar name and style is influenced by ancient Greece. With a relaxed atmosphere, it’s the kind of place you’d intend to pop in for a drink or two, and you’d end up settling in for the entire afternoon.

Much to the venues credit, the wine list has received 3 Wine Glass awards from the Australian Wine List Awards. The wine collection can be best described as unique, showcasing varieties from vineyards worldwide including Australia, Italy, New Zealand, Spain, France, Tasmania and more. The list reflects the ever-evolving wine landscape and is guaranteed to hold something to please all palettes.

A fun feature of the menu is the ordering options that you may not see at a regular bar. The ‘Angel’s Share’ allows you to open a bottle that might not usually be sold by the glass. The ‘Devil’s Cut’ gives the staff an opportunity to crack open a bottle just because they think you should try it. You can also get Featured Wine Flights for just $30 allowing you to try 3x 90ml glasses of wine chosen by the resident sommelier.

What’s a glass of wine without a delicious plate of food to match? Head Chef Luca Petrosino highlights Mediterranean flavours and exceptional seasonal produce across the entire menu. The menu features bites including Marinated Olives, Buffalo Ricotta and Tomato Brushetta, Porcini Mushroom Arancini, and Smoked Salt & Peper Calamari. Plates perfect for sharing include Burrata with Organic Fig Syrup, Juniper & Citrus Salmon Carpaccio, and Baked Potato Wedges. Mains include Fettuccine with Artichokes and Prawns, Pumpkin Ravioli with Burnt Sage Butter, and Monkfish Fillet with Carrot Caponata. If you’ve got a sweet tooth, a traditional Italian Tiramisu, Cinnamon and Banana Crispy Rolls, and Vanilla Affogato will keep you satisfied.

Petrosino said, “I want people to understand the origin of the food that we offer. The majority of our menu is made in-house including our pasta (which my Nonna taught me to make). This is something I am really proud of and want people to experience”.
