Whisky lovers, here’s the must-see event of the season.
This summer, we’ll all be heading outdoors to enjoy the best our sparkling city has to offer. For those with a love for all things whisky, we’ve found the perfect whisky-fuelled festival set to roam through one of Sydney’s most historic neighbourhoods, The Rocks.
Get ready for Whisk(e)y on The Rocks, running from Thursday, November 19th to Sunday, November 22nd. Get ready to explore one of the city’s old precincts as you sip your way through some of the world’s best whiskies.
This epic roaming festival will take Sydneysiders on a two-hour journey through The Rocks Festival Zones, with tastings and inspiring whisky activations to explore. Plus, they’ll even be The Rocks Whisk(e)y Trail, giving punters a chance to explore the participating bars, pubs, and restaurants that make The Rocks a foodie hot spot.
There are four dedicated zones at the Whisk(e)y on The Rocks Festival, including Campbell’s Cove, 47 George Street, Playfair St, and The Argyle Courtyard. Here’s a snapshot of what you can expect at each:
- Zone 1 – Campbells Cove: sip your way through the Fever-Tree High Ball Bar, crafted by the makers of the world’s leading premium mixers. Plus, you’ll also find the Glenfiddich ‘Whisky Wanderer’, a vintage two-storey bus completely kitted out with a high-class premium bar and a hydraulic pop-up roof.
- Zone 2 – 47 George & 6 -8 Atherden Street: here you’ll find a four-day pop-up led by leading whisky crafters Maker’s Mark, Dead Rabbit and Wild Turkey.
- Zone 3 – Playfair Street: next door, you’ll find Monkey Shoulder’s mixer truck, boasting a giant cocktail shaker on wheels.
- Zone 4 – Argyle Courtyard: celebrate 200 years of Johnnie Walker as the Argyle Courtyard transforms into a whisky wonderland
Once you’ve wrapped up your two-hour journey through the festival zones, head to The Rocks Whisk(e)y Trail. Get ready to sip your way through Starward Whisky and Copper dog Whiskyat participating venues including The Argyle, The Doss House, Mrs Jones Bar at The Orient Hotel, the Copper Dog Courtyard at The Push, The Mercantile Hotel, Sergeant Lok, Tayim, Fortune of War and Maybe Sammy (each serving their own bespoke festival menu).
Plus don’t miss the series of intimate whisky masterclasses running in the heritage-listed Campbells Cove Stores overlooking Sydney harbour. Each 45-minute session will take you through the history, craftsmanship, and brand story of each whisky (with more details on session dates and times coming soon).
Tickets for the Whisk(e)y on The Rocks festival are on sale now ($25, which includes festival access and 7 x sample tokens, redeemable for 15mL whisky nips and cocktails across the festival zones and partner experiences).
