Behold, VIVID Sydney is making a return in May and with it are a bunch of exciting activations and ways to celebrate.
VIVID Sydney 2022 is all set to illuminate our city this Autumn. With more than 200+ events celebrating the essence of Sydney’s soul including its diversity, beauty and resilience, we thought it’d be a good idea to line up some of our top picks. From virtual reality art experience to pop up bars and some of the best hotels and restaurants to view the light show on the Harbour Bridge & Opera House, discover some cool ways to celebrate our city this VIVID.

Future Art, Darling Harbour
The immersive digital art experience, Future Art, is making a comeback to celebrate the launch of VIVID Sydney 2022. On Friday, 27th of May from 7pm till 3am, Home the Venue’s main stage will transform with new artworks from the world’s biggest crypto-artists including Sophie Tea, Em!, The Sarah Show, Coldie, Giant Swan and CryptoPunks. This one-night-only event fuses large-scale HD projections with live music from renowned artists including Black Angus from Sneaky Sound System, Ciaran Gribbin formerly of INXS and IIan Kidron from The Potbelleez. There will also be augmented reality & virtual reality lounges and cocktail bars. Tickets range from $59pp to $79pp and can be purchased here.

3HARPS by Jake Meadow, National Arts School
Sooth your senses as multi-instrumentalist, composer and performer Jake Meadows drives the majestic sounds of the harp with ethereal electronic music. The coastlines of Sydney inspire his music – think deep blue waves, dappled sunlight and crisp white sands to take you to a place of pure bliss. This immersive, multi-sensory live music and video experience is happening on Thursday, 16th of June at 7pm and 9pm. Find out more here.

Soul of the City, Four Seasons Hotel Sydney
This five-star hotel has one of the best views in town to experience VIVID Sydney. Conveniently located in The Rocks, you’ll be just a stone’s throw from the VIVID Light Walk which will transform the streets with projections from the best international light artists. Stay the night and witness spectacular views across the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Sydney Opera House from your room. The hotel’s restaurant, Mode Kitchen & Bar, has created a Vivid-inspired menu showcasing the team’s creativity and cocktail bar, Grain, has created limited-edition illuminating cocktails for you to sip while an artist paints a glowing mural along the window overlooking George Street. La Di Darts, Darlinghurst
Fancy a game of darts? Funlab, creators of Holey Moley and Strike Bowling, have just launched augmented reality darts right next door to buzzing Holey Moley in Darlinghurst. Sydneysiders will be hitting the bullseye in style with their own Gatsby-themed private booth and an Insta-worthy bespoke cocktail menu. There are four different games available so those of all experience levels can have fun and you can battle it out with up to 6 of your friends. By leaning on modern technology, darts are thrown at the board and the scores are electronically captured in real-time. House of Bombay, Darling Quarter
One of our favourite gin brands, Bombay Sapphire, is partnering with VIVID Sydney 2022 to welcome a luxe pop-up bar in Tumblong Park. With the capacity to host over 500 people it will offer the perfect buzzy atmosphere to meet with friends before you take on this year’s Light Walk. A multi-sensory experience will be housed within the bar including music, artworks and bespoke cocktails. The new Darling Quarter location boasts some of VIVID Sydney’s main attractions including Vivid House, a sensory 3D walk-through visual and sonic experience, Tumbalong Nights, a free lineup of music performances every Wednesday to Saturday night, with food from Vesta Italian, Gelatissimo and Braza Churrascaria. Best Seats To Enjoy This VIVID, Harbourfront Seafood Restaurant Sydney
With arresting views of the Sydney Opera House and some of Australia’s best seafood on the table, there’s no better place to perch up and watch the light show. Harbourfront Seafood Restaurant is located in the new Campbell’s Stores in The Rocks with a spacious 300-seat capacity including indoor and outdoor seating. The Cointreau Margarita Kombi will be popping up this VIVID outside Terrance on the Domain from May 27 to June 18 from 4pm – 8pm. Margarita enthusiasts will be able to sip their way through three styles of margaritas – the Original Margarita, the VIVID Bright Margarita and the Spicy Margarita, all at $18 each. Cointreau’s pop-up bar on wheels is in the form of a retro VW Kombi ensuring it is a totally Insta-worthy experience when paired with the beautiful city skyline.
