6 Bars You Should Be Checking Out This Month

Bars, Drink, Sydney / 4 July 2018

It’s time to officially put these drinking spots on your radar during July.

Whilst some of your mates may be snubbing the booze this month during Dry July, we’re all for advocating a tipple to keep us warm during this chilly month. In an effort to alleviate the dreaded winter blues, we’ve complied a list of the six bars you should be checking out during July.

The Butler, Potts Point

Cheese, whiskey and wine, how fine! The Butler in Potts Point might make for an obvious summer destination with its botanical oasis fit out and sun drenched terrace. Come winter though, this inner-city watering hole certainly doesn’t go into hiding. Every Wednesday night in Juanita’s bar, cosy up to the fireplace with their ‘cheese, whiskey and wine nights’. Available from 18th July, enjoy a cheese tasting board to share with your choice of a whisky or glass of wine, priced at $50 for two people. Date night is sorted.

The Fernery, Mosman

The Fernery’s Rosé Bar is warming up the North-side of the bridge with its new pop-up Fire Bar. The new menu includes a range of ‘Hot-Tails’ including mulled wine with spiced rum, Hot Fernery Spiced Cider and flaming Ink Gin Blazer served with flaming citrus. Accompanying this is also a new food offering, including 12-hour lamb, edamame and squid ink, a mushroom tagliatelle and more. Snuggle up with plenty of toasty blankets, cosy rooftop fires and warming drinks.

The Doss House, The Rocks

Tucked into the sandstone depths of The Rocks is The Doss House, a site oozing in history with over 150 global varieties of whisky to choose from. In celebration of the cooler months, they’re now launching a monthly Whisky and Cheese masterclass series. Kicking off on Thursday 17th July, this 1.5 hour class includes a welcome drink, four whiskies matched with four cheeses, as well as a little background and history on the cheeses and whiskies from experts in the field. Priced at $125, you can secure your tickets by emailing info@thedosshouse.com.au.

Did someone just say, bottomless booze Sunday sessions? Recently launching at Salt Meats Cheese Circular Quay is a seven week Sunday Session lunch series – and trust us when we say you won’t want to miss this. Each Sunday will feature a different Italian themed menu with most including unlimited wine. The next session on Sunday 8th July honours the beloved espresso martini, with three varieties of the prized cocktail on offer, plus a four course shared lunch menu for only $69pp. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled for the subsequent events, with flowing rosé, cheese feasts, Sunday roasts and Sardinian menus to be on offer in the upcoming weeks.

This New Orleans inspired smokehouse nestled in the heart of Barangaroo is giving you a reason to start your weekend early, with Taittenger Thursdays.
