Two of Australia’s most beloved brands, Koko Black and Lune Croissanterie, are joining forces to celebrate World Chocolate Day on Friday, 7 July 2023.
The duo has crafted an ultra-limited edition croissant, aptly named ‘The Belgian Truffle’, promising a mouth-watering experience for all chocolate enthusiasts.
Koko Black, a renowned artisanal chocolatier, and Lune, a pastry powerhouse, have combined their expertise to create a treat that is as indulgent as it is unique. The Belgian Truffle is a twice-baked croissant, filled with a gooey centre of Koko Black Cocoa frangipane and 70% Guanaja fondant. The pastry is then garnished with tempered chocolate shards, salted cookie crumb, mascarpone chantilly, and the star of the show, Koko Black Belgian Truffles.
This year, the brands are extending the World Chocolate Day festivities to last the entire weekend, from Friday, 7 July to Sunday, 9 July. The Belgian Truffle will be available at all Lune stores, including their two Brisbane locations, and selected Koko Black stores across Melbourne and Sydney. For those in Sydney, Lune is also planning a special pop-up event in anticipation of their first Sydney store opening in 2024 on Oxford St, Darlinghurst.
Remco Brigou, Head Chocolatier of Koko Black, expressed his excitement about the collaboration. “This is not just a dream for us, but for every foodie with a love for premium, velvety chocolate. The Belgian Truffle truly celebrates World Chocolate Day by pairing the rich yet delicate taste of croissants with chocolate that is in a league of its own,” said Brigou.
Kate Reid, Founder of Lune Croissanterie, echoed Brigou’s sentiments. “Our traditional croissant, elevated to celebrate Koko Black’s Belgian truffle, is the ultimate, decadent chocolate treat,” Reid said.
The Belgian Truffle will be available in limited quantities at selected stores, so chocolate and pastry lovers will need to act fast. In Melbourne, you can find it at Koko Black stores in The Glen, Como Centre, Highpoint, Doncaster, Royal Arcade, Flinders Lane, Melbourne Central, and Chadstone, and Lune stores in Melbourne CBD, Fitzroy, and Armadale. In Sydney, it will be available at Koko Black Westfield, Koko Black The Strand, and the Lune pop-up at KKB QVB. Brisbane residents can find it at Lune stores in South Brisbane and Brisbane CBD.
This collaboration between Koko Black and Lune Croissanterie is a testament to the creativity and innovation in Australia’s food scene. It’s a must-try for anyone looking for a unique way to celebrate World Chocolate Day this year.
