Have you heard? There’s a new rooftop bar at The Provincial Hotel that’s opened just in time for spring.

It seems we can’t get enough of rooftop bars, with Melbourne’s streets profuse with trendy high-altitude drinking spots. Joining this esteemed group is Fitzroy’s iconic pub, The Provincial Hotel. Opening its doors on Friday 15th September, locals and rooftop bar fanatics alike have flocked to the newly opened space, sussing out both the Fitzroy cityscape as well as the new drinks and food offering.

Decorated with retro furniture, sleek wooden tables and a scattering of vibrant shrubbery, The Provincial Hotel rooftop exudes a distinctly eclectic feel. Looking at the drinks menu, there’s 10 carefully curated tap beers on offer. This is teamed with a delicious cocktail menu and a short and snappy wine list. Perhaps most amusing though are the tongue-in-cheek food and drink titles.

There’s The Big Sleeze burger ($21), made with a beef patty, mustard and tomato relish. Jump over to the cocktail list and you’ll find the ‘You’re Punching Mate’, a fruit punch made with rhubarb vodka, quick-pickled watermelon, mint, pomegranate and citrus flavours ($20).

Zooming in on the food menu, there are your typical pub delights, including a range of burgers, hot dogs and pizzas teamed with a hefty selection of pub snacks Hello haloumi fries with sweet chilli!($14).
With warmer, sunnier months (hopefully) around the corner, we predict The Provincial’s newest rooftop bar to be a go-to summer drinks spot.
The rooftop will be open until 1am on Friday and Saturday, and midnight the rest of the week.
