A Unique Collaboration Unfolds

Melbourne’s beloved gelato brand, Pidapipo, is celebrating a significant milestone – their 10th anniversary. This December, they’re joining forces with Natalie Paull of Beatrix Bakes. Together, they’re crafting a festive treat that blends traditional baking with gelato expertise, adding a delightful twist to holiday celebrations.

Introducing the Peach Alabama Gelato Cake

The centerpiece of this collaboration is the innovative Peach Alabama Gelato Cake. Inspired by Beatrix Bakes’ famous Peach Alabama sponge cake, this gelato version features layers of peach jam, mascarpone-zabaione gelato, and poached peach sorbetto. Wrapped in a marsala-soaked sponge, it’s topped with mascarpone whipped cream, poached peaches, and amaretti biscuit crunch. Consequently, this creation offers an indulgent experience for dessert lovers.

Established in 2013 by Lisa and Jamie Valmorbida, Pidapipo has revolutionized Melbourne’s gelato landscape. It was the city’s first gelateria dedicated to traditional gelato making. Since then, the brand has grown, boasting four outlets including the Pidapipo Laboratorio. This space not only serves delicious gelato but also acts as a creative hub for new dessert innovations.

Natalie Paull’s Baking Excellence

Natalie Paull’s Beatrix Bakes, launched in 2011, has been a sensation in Melbourne’s culinary scene. Her bakery, known for its vibrant and scrumptious offerings, attracts crowds eagerly awaiting their slice of the day. Natalie expresses joy in this collaboration, highlighting the fusion of baking and gelato art.

Join the Celebration at Laboratorio

In addition to marking their anniversary, Pidapipo is setting the stage for a grand festive celebration. On December 6th, they’re hosting a giveaway at the Laboratorio, where the first 300 visitors will enjoy a complimentary slice of the gelato cake. Furthermore, Natalie and Lisa will be personally serving these treats. For those unable to attend, pre-orders start on November 15th, with the cakes available in stores from December 7th until the end of the month.
