Nick and Nora‘s follows a story we’ve become familiar with during 2020. This luxe new CBD cocktail and champagne bar was set to swing open its doors back in March, coinciding with the national shutdown of hospitality venues that occurred just a few months ago. But this month, this highly anticipated bar has opened its doors to the public, many of whom are ready for a much-needed cocktail.
Nick and Nora’s is the latest venture for the Speakeasy Group, the team responsible for iconic watering holes such as Eau de Vie, Mjolner and the Boilermaker House. With drinking dens located across two cities (with numerous outposts in both Sydney and Melbourne), this latest project is an exciting new addition to the group’s portfolio (and Melbourne’s bar scene).
Set above the bustling Collins Street, this cocktail and champagne bar takes its inspiration (and name) from the fictional crime-solving duo Nick & Nora from the novel The Thin Man. At Nick and Nora’s you’ll find flowing champagne, top-notch whiskey and perfectly crafted cocktails to boot.
Just as you’d expect from a post-prohibition era bar, Nick and Nora’s is a lavish party venue boasting an impressive five spaces within its home at 80 Collins Street (including the main bar, salon, champagne parlour and even a luxe VIP lounge). The space recreates the roaring vibe of the 1930s, with luxe interiors to match showcasing green marble, brass finishes and dark wood at every turn.
Delicious drinks are what this team of leading bartenders does best, with over 50 champagne from the world’s top vineyards on offer along with a signature cocktail list and an impressive selection of world-class spirits. Plus indulge in the venue’s ‘Raw Bar’ of local oysters, world-class caviar and artisanal cheese plates and charcuterie boards and so much more.
