Melbourne Scores Its First Permanent Black Star Pastry Outpost

The bakery behind the world’s most Instagrammed cake is setting up a permanent outpost in Melbourne.

Black Star Pastry has been a household name among Australia’s sweet tooths. Since launching in Sydney back in 2008, Black Star Pastry has been serving some of the country’s most iconic cakes, none more so than the Strawberry Watermelon Cake (earning itself the title of the world’s most Instagrammed cake).

But for Melburnians, the team from Black Star Pastry has yet to set up a dedicated outpost. Back in November 2019, St Kilda welcomed a pop-up bakery from the team, proving a popular spot among locals searching for top-notched baked goods. And now, the Black Star Pastry crew have dedicated to set up permanently with the launch of their first permanent Melbourne store in the heart of St Kilda.

Set on Acland Street in St Kilda, this new spot is the first time the team has launched a permanent venue outside of Sydney (and we’re mighty excited about it). Here, you’ll find all classic cakes the bakery is known for, with an extensive menu of sweet treats perfect for the winter months.

Alongside the classic Strawberry Watermelon Cake, you’ll also find Black Star icons such as the Pistachio Lemon Zen Cake (featuring multiple layers of goodness including pistachio ganache, a white chocolate mousse, lemon curd and crunchy pistachio dacquoise) along with their Raspberry Lychee Cake, A Dragon Cake and so much more.

And to pair with your delicious pastries, the crew from St Ali will be supplying delicious coffee (talk about the perfect combo!). Not a fan of queuing? You can also pre-order your cakes online and head straight to the express pick-up section for maximum efficiency.
