The Meatball and Wine Bar brings balls and all to Chapel Street

From masterful meatballs to Italian-inspired cocktails, your taste buds will thank you for a visit to The Meatball and Wine Bar. The Melbourne institution has just launched its fourth restaurant, bringing balls and all to 150 Chapel Street, Windsor.
 The Meatball and Wine Bar
Joining venues in Flinders Lane, Richmond and Collingwood, this latest restaurant represents The Meatball and Wine Bar’s first foray Southside – and boy have they nailed it.
Taking over the heritage-listed building formerly occupied by San Churro, The Meatball and Wine Bar has made a special effort to play to the vintage charm. Classic features like warm lighting, marble benchtops and timber fittings mingle perfectly with draping greenery and industrial-inspired lights. Throw in a soundtrack of early 2000s RnB and a hot pink neon sign for good measure, and the vibe is set.

The Meatball & Wine Bar is serious about good food and good fun and there’s no doubt you’ll find them both on Chapel. The meatballs are beyond what you expect from a humble meatball. Big pork meatballs with pan-fried gnocchi and rich tomato sauce, anyone? Team the menu’s balls of joy with a natural wine from the bar’s extensive selection of wines from Italy and Australia and you can’t go wrong.

No ordinary meatball, these juicy spheres are brimming with flavour – a credit to using only the very best ingredients. Owner Matteo Bruno has a passion for produce and it shows. Ethical farming and end to end responsibility for the products Matteo serves up are really essential to him. A testament to this is the fact that The Meatball and Wine Bar team even has their very own butcher shop opening in Richmond in 2017.
Matteo explained: “We source our protein direct from farmers so you know our meatballs are exceptional quality.”
The menu allows you to get ballin’ your way. Get a ball and sauce of your choice, slider-style on brioche buns or sit your saucy balls on creamy polenta or potato smash. You can even opt for a meatball skewer.

The meatball salads sound delectable, plus vegetarians are catered for with veg balls and plenty of meat-free options.
It’s more than just balls at The Meatball and Wine Bar. This venue is a superb addition to Chapel Street’s assortment of bars and restaurants and is well worth a date.
