Review: INDU Melbourne

Experience a unique blend of Sri Lankan and Southern Indian cuisine at INDU Melbourne.

Venture to the iconic Collins Quarter in the CBD and through an archway to find the home of INDU Melbourne. Here you will mosey past terracotta pots filled with an array of spices, past the open kitchen to a cosy nook in the dim and intimate venue to commence your feast.

In its second year of operation and with a new management team, INDU Melbourne dishes up village culture, flavours and hospitality. Head Chef, Kritapat ‘Three’ Phadungkarn (Movida, Syracuse Wine Bar & Restaurant, Sixty Smith) and General Manager Marcus Radny (Sommelier, Vue de Monde, Qualia Resort, Aman Hotel Group) bring Melbournians quality dining without the hefty price tag.INDU Melbourne
With a menu that is perfect for sharing, INDU Melbourne showcases seasonal produce while paying homage to traditional Sri Lankan and South Indian dishes. Offering either a set menu ($65-85pp) or a la carte, you will certainly be satisfied with the coastal and village-inspired offerings. Select from dosas and hoppers, seafood, curries, meats from the grill and more – You can dabble in a little bit of everything if you please!INDU Lamb Raan
The smoked Yarra Valley goat’s leg dosa is rich in flavour and a delicious starter, along with the Albacore tuna croquettes and crispy besan fritters. Follow this with the eggplant moju and ‘Great Lamb Raan’. Of course, you must try some heartwarming dishes such as Thilaka’s potato curry or Amma’s daal with a house made paratha.

Dessert at INDU Melbourne doesn’t disappoint either. Try the chocolate and cardamom mousse or roasted coconut ice cream with mango custard.INDU Melbourne Cocktail
The tipples on offer favour gin as their signature ingredient, however you will also find a large selection of other delicious beverages. Signature G&T’s include the INDU X Young Henry’s Gin finished with strawberry and mint, and the Colombo No. 7, which features freshly grated coconut and curry leaves.

INDU Melbourne is perfect for a cheeky nightcap, a cosy date night or a feast with family and friends. A number of special events are coming up at the venue, including Fathers Day Lunch on Sunday 4th September 2022, as well as Melbourne Bar Hop on Saturday 15th October 2022. Or, if you want to experience a two-hour Sri Lankan Feast with Bottomless G&T’s, INDU Melbourne will be host every Saturday (available from 12-3pm, $75pp).
