Gorman X Handpicked Wines Collaboration

Drink, Melbourne / 12 March 2019

Celebrate all things fashion and wine with the launch of the Gorman X Handpicked Wines collaboration.

To celebrate ten years of collaborations with local and international designers, creators, and artists, homegrown fashion house Gorman have teamed up with Handpicked Wines to launch their limited edition Gorman X Handpicked Wines bespoke wine collection.

The launch of the wine collab coincides with the release of Gorman’s “Ten Years” Winter 2019 Collection and a two week pop-up exhibition at the Heide Museum of Modern Art, “Gorman: Ten Years of Collaborating” that showcases the brands pairings with artists over the last decade. Designed by Lisa Gorman herself, and produced in conjunction with Handpicked Wines winemaker Peter Dillon, the Gorman X Handpicked Wines collection is her first dip of the toe into the world of wine.

With wineries in the Yarra and Barossa Valleys, Margaret River, and the Mornington Peninsula – as well as partnerships with wine makers in other regions – Handpicked Wines’ goal is simple: to produce and source good quality wines that aren’t restricted to one varietal or region. Their extensive family of wineries and producers stretches across 21 wine regions in five countries, with everything from every day wines to their special edition single vineyard collection designed for cellaring.

When choosing the wines that would become the Gorman X Handpicked Wines collection – a chardonnay and a pinot noir – the Mornington Peninsula was an obvious choice for a collaboration with a fashion house that began here in Victoria. Home grown fashion and home grown wines, both of which have made a huge splash on the world stage with their distinctive characters.

Gorman X Handpicked Wines Bottle

The 2018 Mornington Peninsula Pinot Noir was handpicked and matured for 11 months in a mixture of old and new oak which has produced a distinctive wine with a spicy and fruity flavour that makes it perfect for pairing with richly umami flavours such as mushroom dishes, as well as cheese and charcuterie boards. The 2018 Mornington Peninsula Chardonnay is also handpicked, and the grapes are chilled overnight before being fermented. This gives it a super fresh flavour, and makes for a very smooth drinking experience that matches well with seafood and creamy pasta dishes.

Both bottles feature Gorman’s signature oatmeal toned background with a retrospective emblem by Beci Orpin, a long time collaborator, that captures Gorman’s iconic bold style.

The Gorman X Handpicked Wines are available for pre-order individually and as a pair at Handpicked Wine website and go on sale from March 13.
