Good Times Milk Bar isn’t your standard milk bar but rather a Californian diner meets super Instagrammable candy-hued café. Pastel pinks and blues, speckled confetti-inspired counters and pop art vibes galore come together to create a joyfully cool space. Come for the look and feel, stay (and return) for the excellent foodage.
While many cafes like to specialise in a certain style of cuisine, Good Times Milk Bar serves up the best of on-trend café fare but delivers on many other highly desirable fronts too. What’s very appealing about Good Times is that the menu caters to just about any taste.
Let’s start with breakfast, or as it more affectionately known, brekky. We couldn’t resist the sound of the Chilli Scrambled Eggs, featuring Spanish onion, tomato, coriander, hot sauce, guacamole and jalapeno monterey jack cheese, topped with crispy tortilla strips. A side of chorizo is recommended if you’re into it and fits in perfectly with this medley.
Of course, if spicy breakfast isn’t your thing, the Dippy Eggs have got to be the cutest breakfast option in Melbourne. And just as tasty as they look. Sweet tooth? Go the pavlova-inspired Hotcake, or get fruity with the nourishing Granola Smoothie Bowl.
Speaking of sweet teeth, milkshake fans ought to get on down to Good Times Milk Bar and get stuck into a Special Milkshake in flavours such as Crunchie or Golden Gaytime. Classic milkbar favourites in milkshake form, and absolutely blended to perfection.
For lunch you could go for a tasty Salmon Ceviche Bowl or Kale, Pea and Quinoa Fritters, but if you’re feeling like it’s absolutely a burger day then Good Times Milk Bar has you covered. The Buffalo Burger features fried chicken, Frank’s hot sauce, ranch, pickles, lettuce and comes complete with spicy waffle chippies. Or the Green Burger marries burger life with extra nutrients, starring green pea, quinoa and kale patty, green hummus and plenty of goodness.
Another stand out of Good Times Milk Bar is the rather exceptional kids’ menu. Parents, take note! Along with foolproof Cheesymite Soldiers, little ones can order a mini-me option of some of the menu favourites, so that mum and dad can have theirs all to themselves for once. Everybody wins!
