Cluster Truck Takeover at The Gasometer Hotel

What the truck? Cluster Truck takes over the Gasometer Hotel in Collingwood

With Collingwood touted as one of Melbourne’s creative hubs, it comes as no surprise that the iconic Gasometer Hotel is bending the rules of traditional pub grub to deliver a culinary collaboration with food truck connoisseurs, Cluster Truck.
The ‘Gaso’ is renowned for its lively atmosphere – replete with retractable roof and cosy fires for the cooler months. Whether you’re watching the footy or settling in to boogie the night away, forgo the usual parma and pint for a smorgasbord of gastronomic delights served by the Cluster Truck team.
I tasted some samples of what’s to come over the next six months and my mouth was constantly watering. The menu boasted a selection of food fare plucked from multiple vendors across the six-month line-up. My tastebuds were transported everywhere from the fragrant meat vendors of Spain to the street food stalls of Vietnam.

If the Gasometer has taught me anything, its expect the unexpected. The days of the classic burger-and-fries food truck are well and truly over here. Expect everything from New Orleans cuisine to a modern take on fish and chips to appear on the menu over the coming months. There’s so much variety on offer it’s hard not to make the ‘Gaso’ a regular haunt.

Tender glazed beef ribs fell apart in my mouth and the basket of chicken wings were demolished in record speed. With equally delicious vegetarian food options available also, the Cluster Truck takeover caters to all. Fittingly, the Gasometer has a reputation as a safe place for all sexualities, complete with gender neutral bathrooms, which makes it an all the more awesome place for you and your entourage to spend the night.

It wasn’t just the sumptuous food that left me feeling all warm and fuzzy – the atmosphere of the Gasometer is all about community. Sharing heart-warming food with friends by a cosy fireplace? That’s one surefire way to make anyone feel right at home. Adding to the experience was the rocking live music that plays week long, and with a band room that can fit 350 of your closest friends, the Gasometer and Cluster Truck collaboration transforms into the very definition of eat, drink and be merry!

With most menu prices just over $10, a night at the Gasometer leaves both your tummy and your wallet feeling good. Plus, with happy hour every night from 4-7pm, sip on $6 pints of Vale lager whilst enjoying your food truck goodness. A whole six months of the best food trucks going around, all in the comfort of a cosy pub? Sign me up!
