Cityfields: A European-Inspired Food and Drink Experience in Chadstone’s The Social Quarter

The highly anticipated Cityfields has arrived at Chadstone’s newest leisure and dining precinct, The Social Quarter, thanks to the creative minds behind South Melbourne’s restaurant and events space, Half Acre. As a European-inspired, all-day food and drink destination, Cityfields boasts a central public bar, sky-high ceilings, and indoor and outdoor seating options reminiscent of venues found in iconic cities like New York, London, and Paris.

The team behind Half Acre has a knack for choosing unexpected locations, with Cityfields being no exception. The striking 12-metre high ceilings, skyline views, rooftop garden, and grand staircase provided the ideal location to bring Cityfields to life, explains Adam Wright-Smith, co-owner of Cityfields. Designers Pasquale Cook and Studio Manifold helped shape this two-story dining destination, which features a range of distinctive spaces, from alfresco dining in the North and South Gardens to the yet-to-be-opened rooftop Terrace Dining Room and Bar.

Upon entering Cityfields, guests will feel instantly transported to a European locale with its Parisian brasserie-style entrance, warm interiors, and locally sourced materials. From vintage Murano chandeliers to terrazzo tabletops and handcrafted ceramics, each room has its own unique personality, inviting visitors to relax and unwind.

Open from noon until late, the restaurant serves a menu rich with quality ingredients and timeless dishes infused with a European flair. The menu transitions seamlessly from day to night, featuring share plates, handmade pastas, mains catering to a variety of tastes, and an array of salads. Dessert lovers will enjoy the roving cart filled with daily cake and tart specials, as well as à la carte options and on-site-made soft serve ice cream.

Cityfields welcomes all ages, offering a dedicated menu for children with dishes such as spaghetti bolognese, fish and chips, cheeseburgers and fries, or chicken and chips. The ground-floor Public Bar, centered around a large marble bar, serves the same menu as the restaurant in a more relaxed atmosphere, making it an ideal spot for a drink or meal after shopping, or to catch a favourite sporting event on one of the screens.

The extensive drink selection includes an impressive wine list, signature cocktails and mocktails, aperitifs and digestifs, and a variety of local and imported beers. Cityfields also offers happy hour from 4pm to 7pm, Monday to Thursday, with house wine and beer starting from just $11 a glass.

The top level, set to open in May, features The Terrace Dining Room, Bar, and Garden, providing an elevated and sophisticated yet casual space with stunning views of the city. The entire top level will be available for private events, making it the perfect location for any occasion.

Cityfields caters to a wide range of guests, from those seeking a delicious brunch to those looking for an exquisite dinner or a glass of bubbly after a day of shopping. Cityfields truly offers a one-of-a-kind adventure for all who visit.
