Camillo House: Your Next Mornington Peninsula Retreat

Melbourne, Play / 29 August 2023

A Beachside Sanctuary in Blairgowrie

Born out of Victoria’s long lockdowns, Camillo House is the brainchild of founder Clare Hillier. With its roots in Blairgowrie on the Mornington Peninsula, Camillo House is more than just a place to sleep—it’s a lifestyle. With its mid-century aesthetic, it offers an ideal getaway for holidaymakers, artists, and couples seeking a coastal home away from home.

Where Nature and Comfort Meet

Just fifty steps away from Blairgowrie’s back beach, Camillo fully embraces its natural surroundings. Offering panoramic views of the Bass Strait, the house boasts three bedrooms, three bathrooms, and multiple living spaces. You’ll also find four decks and an outdoor bath for that extra touch of relaxation. Whether watching storms from your bed or enjoying a nightcap around the firepit, Camillo encourages a closer bond with nature and your companions.

A Creative Space with a Touch of History

On arrival, guests are greeted with a Negroni at the bar—a nod to the cocktail’s namesake, Count Camillo Negroni. The house also comes with a Welcome Hamper filled with treats from local Peninsula producers. But the creative flair doesn’t stop there. Camillo is a hotbed of artistic innovation, featuring 25 original artworks, some from the house’s very own Artist Retreat program. Every corner of Camillo is carefully crafted, making your stay feel like an intimate gallery experience.

From Vintage Finds to Local Collaborations

Each piece of furniture tells a story. Clare Hillier, along with her partner Sean, have either handpicked vintage items or crafted their own, like the outdoor table. Collaborating with local artisans, such as Wood and Water for timber baths and Bootleg Studio for custom furniture, adds to the house’s unique character. Even the house scent and guest beach bags are crafted in partnership with local talents, Rewild Co and Tamboon Leather Co.

More than Just a House

Camillo isn’t just about staying in; it’s about experiencing the Mornington Peninsula. Within 30 minutes, you can find 50 cellar doors for wine tasting, soak in Peninsula Hot Springs, or even enjoy a round of golf at any of the nearby ten links courses. Your stay here is a passport to a broad range of local experiences.

Luxurious Comfort

A stay at Camillo House offers more than just luxurious comfort; it’s a dive into a rich tapestry of sensory delights, local artistry, and natural beauty. This is the escape from modern life you didn’t know you needed, but won’t soon forget.
