Melbourne, Play / 29 April 2019

Pull out your scrunchies and double denim and get ready to step back to the ’90s at Melbourne Central

Throwing us back into a vortex of ’90s nostalgia, Melbourne Central is gearing up to host  a massive 90s House Party this week for this year’s Shop The City. This city-wide retail event attracted over 214,000 shoppers last year and is set to be bigger and better this time around.

The day will be filled with plenty of opportunities to reminisce about those old school days with over 100 exclusive shopping offers available, free food and drinks, a variety of ’90s themed activities and ’90s DJs spinning all the best throwback tracks- *cue the Spice Girls*.

B. Lucky & Sons Party Bar will be serving free Woo Woo cocktails (18+ only) from 5pm, and Pazzi Pizza, Nando’s and Grill’d will be stopping by to deliver complimentary party snacks.

Take a visit to the Levi’s pop-up for free customisation on old or new Levi’s denim – choose from a selection of badges, embroidery and patches to add some fresh ’90s style.

Fancy yourself a Claw Machine champ? This iconic ’90s game will be making an appearance so you can have a chance to prove your coordination once more. Though this time you’ll be fishing for ’90s prizes and shopping discounts rather than little rubber aliens.

Be sure to check out the Powder Room by MAC Cosmetics for ’90s-inspired make-up applications: think nude glossy lips and heavy eyeliner. And whilst there, keep an eye out for Melbourne Central’s street style photographer who will be capturing all the best ’90s looks of the day along the epic Wall of ’90s Records located on Level 1.

Once you’re all shopped out, head to Hoyts for your choice of free popcorn or choc top. Then pop your shopping bags down and your feet up as you settle in for a free screening of the iconic ’90s flick, 10 Things I Hate About You at 9:30pm.

But wait there’s more… 250 visitors on the day will receive clues taking them on a treasure hunt around the centre to collect prizes, with additional clues revealed via Instagram Stories leading to the major prize of a $300 Melbourne Central gift voucher.

Melbourne Central will have extended trading hours from 10am to 9pm.

Head to the party Wednesday 1st May from 10am-9pm
