From chilling shipping container simulators to at-home audio broadcasts, get ready for the unsettling DARKFIELD RADIO.
You might remember a story we covered earlier this year about a new immersive production by DARKFIELD and Realscape. If not, here’s a quick refresher. FLIGHT is an immersive flight simulator experience that takes place in complete darkness inside a 40ft shipping container, offering punters the chance to experience a dark journey into the air (without leaving the ground). The production is the latest installment of the DARKFIELD series, with the previous production SÉANCE recording sell-out seasons across Australia, giving guests a 20-minute immersive experience using sensory deprivation to play on perceptions of reality.
And while that production is no longer running, another chilling audio experience has just launched from the same team. The best bit? You can take part from the comfort of your couch.
Introducing DARFIELD RADIO, a new digital project that brings DARKFIELD’s signature audio experiences direct to your home for a chilling encounter. This epic new immersive experience is built form 360 degree binaural sound that confuses the sense, deepening your sense of immersion by making you second guess what is real and what isn’t.
And this month, DARKFIELD RADIO presents its first show: DOUBLE. All you’ll need is a mobile device, headphones and a friend to take part. During the 20 minute broadcast, audiences will be instructed to sit opposite each other on either side of a kitchen table. Pairs of participants will be replicated in hundreds of rooms across Australia, listening to the same broadcast. And there’s only one rule: everyone has to be who they say they are.
This troubling exercise explores what’s known as the Capgras delusion, a condition in which the sufferer is convinced that a loved one has been replaced by an exact replica with malign intentions. Talk about a creepy hallucination.
