Bars March celebrates its 10th anniversary with a month of bar-fuelled celebrations in support of animal welfare charities.
On any given day of the week, there’s a celebration for something. From coffee to donuts and even a day celebrating the oh-so-delicious margarita, we’re spoilt for choice when it comes to global celebrations. But for many charity events, raising money can come at the cost of giving up something dear to our hearts: booze. From Dry July to FebFast, there are endless opportunities to take a monthly detox in support of a charity.
While we’re all for getting behind a good cause, we’re also excited to discover a new charity month that is doing things a little differently.
Say hello to Bars March, Australia’s only charity celebration that is getting behind Australia’s bar scene while also raising funds for animal welfare charities across the country. Now in its 10th year, the annual Bars March invites Australian venues to take part in the fundraising effort, with a series of exclusive cocktails, beer specials and fundraising events happening across the month.
Throughout the month of March, venues across Sydney and Melbourne will be joining the initiative, including wine bars, cocktail spots, lively pubs and breweries. In Sydney, head to Bartolo, Lobo Plantation, The Botanist Kirribilli, Bopp & Tone, Old Mates Place and more to take part in Bars March. For Melbournians, head to the Newmarket Hotel, Madame Brussels and more to experience the fundraiser for yourself.
The aim of Bars March is simple: to raise money for animal welfare organisations (such as the Animal Welfare League NSW and Victoria’s Save A Dog Scheme) as well as celebrate Australia’s thriving bar culture. The initiative invites punters to get out and explore pubs, bars and watering holes across both cities while raising awareness for animal welfare organisations (who are helping to save the lives of abandoned and neglected animals nationally).
