St. ALi, a name synonymous with Melbourne’s vibrant coffee scene, is now bringing its premium coffee beans to Coles supermarkets.
From July, coffee enthusiasts across Australia can purchase St. ALi’s freshly roasted blends at 850 Coles stores.
A New Milestone for Specialty Coffee
St. ALi’s entry into Coles signifies a major development for Australia’s specialty coffee market. Founded in 2005, St. ALi has grown from a small South Melbourne cafe to a global brand with operations in four countries. This expansion into supermarkets highlights the growing demand for high-quality, cafe-style coffee at home.
Meeting the Demand for Home Brewing
“In recent years, we’ve seen a significant increase in home coffee brewing,” says CEO Lachlan Ward. “While the cafe experience remains irreplaceable, many people now enjoy making their afternoon coffee at home. St. ALi aims to provide both options without compromising quality.”
Popular Blends Now Available
Shoppers can now find St. ALi’s most beloved blends: Orthodox, Wide Awake, Italo Disco, and Feels Good. These are available in 225g bags ($17, ground for filter) and 500g bags ($35, whole beans/ground for filter). Each bag features new packaging with the original angel logo, a nod to St. ALi’s rich history. The coffee is freshly roasted, with the roasting date and best before date clearly printed on each bag.
Artisan Roasting with a Global Reach
“Despite our growth, we maintain an artisan approach to roasting,” says Head of Operations and Sourcing, Lucy Ward. “Every roast is carefully calculated to bring out the best in each bean.” St. ALi sources its beans ethically from around the world, focusing on sustainable practices. Lucy Ward, as the green buyer, travels globally to build direct relationships with producers, ensuring the highest quality coffee.
Supporting Coffee Communities
“Having our coffee in Coles helps us support the producers we’ve worked with for years,” Lucy Ward explains. “We’re committed to championing their hard work and ensuring customers appreciate the journey behind every cup.” This move allows St. ALi to buy more quality coffee, which positively impacts the communities where the beans are sourced.
The Next Chapter for St. ALi
St. ALi’s presence on Coles shelves marks a new chapter in the brand’s journey. “From a small laneway roastery to being available nationwide, the evolution of specialty coffee has been incredible,” says Lachlan Ward. “We’re thrilled to have St. ALi on Coles shelves across Australia.”
