New Opening: Meet Chi by Lotus, Barangaroo’s Newest Casual Dining Destination

Eat, Restaurants, Sydney / 30 November 2020

Bringing a taste of the vibrant night markets of Beijing to the heart of Barangaroo.

With summer almost upon us, there’s plenty of reasons to stay out in the city after work. Whether you’re on the hunt for a delicious tipple or a flavourful feast, we’ve found the perfect new inner-city eatery opening in the heart of Barangaroo today (November 30th).

Meet Chi by Lotus, the new dining concept from the Lotus Dining Group. Finding its home on the ground level of International Tower One, this casual new eatery delivers sweeping harbourside views and a fun, relaxed menu to the heart of the city.

Chi by Lotus takes inspired by the bold, colourful markets of Beijing’s Ghost Street, bringing the best of Chinese street food to the shores of Sydney. Arriving just in time for the festive summer season, this lively new spot will be the perfect place to celebrate this summer.

The venue’s interiors have been designed by award-winning architecture and design firm Luchetti Krelle, channeling the famous night markets with plenty of red and white lanterns, tassels, and warm golden hues filling the space. Expect rows of lucky Maneki Nejo cats waving hello, two large golden skylights, and plenty of high bar seating for a quick drink and snack.

Plus, there’s plenty of spacious alfresco seating at Chi by Lotus, perfect for dining with friends on balmy summer nights.

As for the menu, Head Chef Chris Cheng has curated a delicious offering of Chinese street food and share plates celebrating native Australian ingredients. Their signature dishes include deep-fried native saltbush with spicy mayo, steamed half shell scallops with garlic, chili and seablite, and a more substantial lamb shoulder with Chinese tabouli to share.

As for drinks, there’s plenty of ice-cold beer, wine, and Chinese-inspired cocktails to sip through at Chi by Lotus. There’s even a range of mini cocktails to enjoy, including a Chinese-inspired Negroni and an aptly named, ‘Sunset Ferry’.

Find Chi by Lotus on the ground level of International Tower One at Barangaroo, open Tuesday to Sunday for lunch and Wednesday to Saturday for dinner (long lunches and walk-ins encouraged).
