Prepare your sweet tooth, the Smooth Festival of Chocolate is back!
Life is like a box of chocolates. But you’ll know exactly what you’re getting at the Smooth Festival of Chocolate. More chocolate. The Smooth Festival of Chocolate is returning in August for two whole delicious days and if you’ve been spending most of your life living in a chocoholics paradise, then trust that this chocolate festival will be your oasis.
Home to all the latest dessert trends, the Smooth Festival of Chocolate will feature over 100 exhibitors and not all of them are chocolate based. So rest assured there’s something for every sweetie out there. Master chocolatiers Lindt Chocolate are signing on for the action once again, putting together their very own Lindt Lounge outside the Museum of Contemporary Art. You’ll have the opportunity to customise your very own Lindt Excellence Block with your name, or perhaps the name of someone special. Not only that, there will also be special appearances and chocolate appreciation demos by Australian Lindt Master Chocolatier Thomas Schnetzle.
Returning for the forth year is the Callebaut and Knebel Kitchens, who will be hosting the test kitchen and featuring live demonstrations from some of Australia’s best dessert chefs. You’ll witness the likes of Australia’s Queen of Chocolate Kirsten Tibballs, not to mention the highly lauded Jean Michel Raynaud of La Renaissance Patisserie, The Rocks and Daria Nechiporenko, the Australian representative for the World Chocolate Masters 2018.
What is arguably the main attraction of the weekend are the exhibitions throughout the festival. The king of macaroons Adriano Zumbo will have his acclaimed Zumbo Patisserie on exhibition again this year.
Mr Black will be giving us a special taste of his iconic coffee liquor at the Mr Black Cold Brew Coffee Liqueur bar, offering up mouth watering ‘Espresso Jar-tinis’ topped with Nutie doughnuts while Endeavour Beer will be brewing a chocolate ale especially for the festival. Black Star Pastry are also coming back with their famous strawberry watermelon cake while Gelato Messina serves up scoops of its delectable gelato.
If that wasn’t enough, prepare those tummies for other exhibitors including Crumble Top, Donut Papi, Jasper & Myrtle and even Domuts, doughnuts for dogs!
After you’ve eaten your way through stands upon stands of chocolate-y goodness, pop into the Cargo Hall of the Overseas Passenger Terminal and get ready to be amazed at house artisan chocolatiers and their best work. Sponsored by Baci Perugina, you’ll see house artisan chocolatiers showcasing some of their finest products.
So sort out your affairs early because it’ll be death by chocolate at this years festival.
