The delectable truffle has once again made it onto Sydney’s menus, and we know exactly where to go if you’re looking to eat it. Here is a list of our favourite spots in Sydney.
Hello Auntie, Marrickville
Who would have thought Vietnamese and truffle would be the perfect pairing! Hello Auntie is shaking things up with a limited-edition truffle menu for the season. Try dishes including Com Chien Truffle with fried rice, woodear, king brown mushroom, truffle salsa and fresh truffle, Mi Nam Truffle with egg noodles, a rich truffle sauce, crispy pork lardons and fresh truffle, as well as Banh Socola Keo Xop Truffle which is a choc-chip cookie sandwich filled with truffle marshmallow and strawberry gel. Want to get your dose of truffles from home? The delivery service that took us by storm during COVID lockdowns has done it again by bringing truffle offerings from some of our favourite Sydney restaurants to your home. Order a serving of Manta’s luxe Saffron Linguine with Moreton Bay bug and shaved black truffle. Executive Chef Chase Kojima is proving once again that he is one of Sydney’s most innovative chefs by melding Japanese cuisine with classic truffle dishes. Think truffle-infused Chase Toro Toro and Uni sushi, a 2GR Full Blood Wagyu served with roasted kabocha, pumpkin furikake and shaved truffle and a luxe dessert for sweet tooths, the Truffle Montblanc with chocolate brownie, chestnut and truffle ice cream. Frenchies Bistro & Brewery, Rosebery
Head Chef Thomas is putting on a very special degustation to honour the adored truffle. There will be two dinners on the 23rd and 30th of July where guests will savour the luxe fungi over six courses for $180pp. The menu features dishes including Tuffle-Infused Egg Soldiers with truffle butter brioche, Scallop Raviolo with coral emulsion and truffle, Quail Two Ways with truffle skin, confit potatoes with truffle, sorrel and pine nuts, as well as a Golden Apple Truffle Tarte Fine for the sweet tooths. Sweet Belem, Petersham
Sweet Belem is heading into truffle season with a brand new ‘Black Truffle Range’ featuring fresh Canberran truffles from The Truffle Farm. Three of Sweet Belem’s classic treats will be pimped up with truffle, including their famous Portuguese Tarts filled with truffled free-range egg custard and garnished with slices of black truffle, the Vanilla Slice baked with black truffle custard, and the Brioche Donut with truffled creme pat and truffle shavings. Goodfields Eatery, Lindfield
Lindfield’s favourite local cafe is bringing back its truffle menu for the fourth year in a row. There will be sweet options as well as six savoury dishes available over breakfast and lunch. These include a decadent Savoury Donut with a cheesy truffle mushroom filling, Chicken Hotcake with buttermilk fried chicken and whipped truffle butter, Truffle Cheek Pasta with truffle and white wine braised beef cheeks, as well as a truffle twist on the classic scrambled eggs. a’Mare, Barangaroo
Chef Alessandro Pavoni’s classic Italian fine-dining restaurant has jumped on the truffle bandwagon offering a set menu experience featuring Australian black truffles. Dishes include roasted veal eye fillet carpaccio with freshly shaven black truffles, fresh taglioni with truffle pecorino and freshly shaven black truffles and truffle gelato with fior di latte and EVOO. There will also be an exclusive event on Thursday 7 July featuring a 4-course set menu where the delicacy of the elusive truffle will be showcased for $250pp. Find out more here.
Botswana Butchery, Martin Place
25 Martin Place scored its very own Botswana Butchery earlier this year and we couldn’t be happier, or we thought not until they mentioned they were participating in truffle season. Check out this new venue and explore their luxe meat-filled menu. Order any of their a la carte dishes including CopperTree Farm Beef Tartare, Carmalised Ox Tongue, Live WA Marron or Milly Hill Lamb Rump and add table-side truffle shavings. The fun doesn’t end there with a menu of truffle-infused deliciousness available at the Rooftop at Botswana Butchery including truffle jaffles, wagyu truffle sliders and truffled hazelnut doughnuts. Don’t miss this stunning restaurant’s Truffle Degustation Menu, packed full of flavour and the black truffle. The menu will be available until mid-August and features such dishes as Polenta Fritta with porcini, lardo and black truffle, Risotto with Parmigiano 24th months and black truffle, and Chicken Ballotine with porcini, celeriac & black truffle. You can also order the decadent Signature Acquerello Truffle Risotto from their a la carte menu, or add truffle additions to regular dishes with the option of a ‘truffle topping’. Find out more here.
Salt Meats Cheese, Circular Quay & Cronulla
This much-loved family Italian eatery is serving up a feast for the senses this truffle season at two of their iconic Sydney venues. There is a range of limited-edition menu items available for the month of July, including baked triple cream brie on top of truffle-infused mascarpone, a creamy truffle pappardelle, and truffle pizza.
