Meet the Single Barrel Selection of Westward Whiskey Pinot Noir Finish at Cask Strength. Following an outstanding response to the 2019 American Single Malt Pinor Noir Cask Finish, Westward, a single malt reimagined in the American Northwest, has created a new limited release expression created exclusively for The Whisky Club members (Australia’s biggest community of whisky lovers).
This new Westward Whiskey range has been crafted by Head Distiller Miles Munroe, who has personally chosen four of the most exceptional single barrels to produce a bigger, bolder version of the 2019 small-batch release. With an ABV of 62.5%, this whiskey is bottled straight from the barrel, reflecting the robust flavours built in every step of Westward’s long, slow process.
Crafted in Westward Whiskey’s Portland distillery, each expression uses Pacific Northwest two-row barley, brewed with American pale ale yeast for outstanding flavour, double pot distilled for exceptional character, and matured in 2-char, kiln-dried 53-gallon new American oak barrels. Once fully matured, the batch is finished for 19 months in French Oak wine casks that had previously held Pinot Noir from Dominio IV Wines.
The result? The liquid is pulled from the barrel and bottled at barrel strength. The delicious, robust spirit is both smooth yet big and bold with notes of fig, dark cherry, vanilla, rich malt, and dark chocolate.
And the crew from Westward Whiskey are renowned for crafting some of the world’s best spirits. In fact, they’ve earned the title of the highest-rated American single malt whiskey (and recently won Gold at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition in 2020).
