The Ultimate Date Night During Vivid

Take your regular dinner and drinks routine to new heights with this ultimate date night plan during Vivid.

For many of us, date night is a prized time, allowing you to forgo your daily stresses and spend some precious time with your significant other. With Vivid here, it’s time to amp up your regular dinner and drinks routine with this epic date night idea. Thank us later.

Start with an evening Sydney BridgeClimb Session

Climbing the Sydney Harbour Bridge is on plenty of peoples’ bucket lists, but have you ever considered doing a night time Climb? The Vivid Climb is the perfect excuse to finally tick this off! Running exclusively during Vivid Sydney, punters are able to watch Sydney come alive and enjoy the light installations around the harbour from this particularly unique vantage point. Running from 25th May and 16th June 2018, you and your date will get to wear a flashing Vivid Climb vest, plus climb the Bridge above the striking lights. Not only this, you’ll also get the chance to bust out your best 70s dance moves, as the bridge transforms into a pop up multi-coloured flashing dance floor.

For more information, check out BridgeClimb’s official website here

Head to Opera Bar for a round of cocktails

Still basking in your post-climb glow, make the most of the spectacular Vivid lights with a round of drinks at Sydney’s iconic Opera Bar. Nestled underneath the Opera House, Opera Bar will shake and stir up any of your desired classics, plus their range of signature cocktails.

Opera Bar, Lower Concourse Level, Sydney NSW, Open Monday to Thursday 10:30am – 12am, Friday 10:30am – 1am, Saturday 9am – 1am and Sunday 9am – 12am.

Go to dinner at Tapa Vino

Tucked away in an unassuming lane off Pitt Street is Tapa Vino. This Spanish tapas bar is only a 10 minute leisurely stroll from Opera Bar, serving up a mouth watering array of delights including charcuterie, crispy potato skins, braised beef cheeks, oysters, burrata and plenty more. A combination of intimate hues and cosy furnishings will ease you into a romantic date night only too quickly. Be sure to dabble in the wine list, it features plenty of Spanish drops including a range oh-so-drinkable Tempranillos.

Tapa Vino, 6-8 Bulletin Place, Sydney, 2000, 9247 3221, open Monday to Friday 12pm until late, Saturday from 5pm till late.

Take a stroll around Circular Quay

With bellies comfortably full, take a moment to walk off your meal with a leisurely stroll around Circular Quay. There are plenty of cool nooks and crannies to explore during Vivid 2018, including a series of pop-up installations scattered around The Rocks. Feeling adventurous? Make your way up to The Royal Botanic Garden and check out Oasis.

Finish dessert at Bennelong Restaurant

Finish off your ultimate date night with a splash of luxury at Bennelong Sydney. Peter Gilmore’s brainchild is an iconic Sydney dining spot, situated in the heart of the harbour. Fix yourself a seat at the bar and dive head first into the dessert menu. You’ll find crowd pleasers such as pavlova, cherry jam lamington and chocolate cake – all served with a highly modernised twist. If sweets don’t take your fancy, the cocktail list is equally spectacular.

I’d take my younger sister who is currently trying to get over a breakup!

Vivid is good. Vivid is great. My hubby and I would really, really love to go on this special date. We can eat, drink and play the night away!

Vivid makes me livid. Just kidding alright, climbing the bridge will be a fabulous night with all of the lights.

  • Sarah Dunn says:

My man would be my choice
At the top of the bridge we will rejoice
    Pick us pick us please
It will be the bees knees!

  • Esther Kim says:

    I’d take my dad,
Who came to Australia as a lad,
Worked hard so that our life wasn’t bad,
He needs to do this before he needs a knee pad!

  • Meaghan says:

I would love to take my Dad.
He’s recently retired & looking to fill his life with adventure, working through his bucket list before he’s unable to. My brother took him indoor skydiving, so I have to beat that!

  • Cynthia says:

My long-distance boyfriend, so he can see the beautiful city of Sydney lit up by the Vivid installations when he comes to visit!

  • Nicole says:

They won’t let me bring my Minolta
But I’ll take my own Travolta
    We’ll wear overalls
And he might show me his smalls
When this hot date wins him over!

  • Alana says:

I’d take my mum on this date because she loves me more than any man could. She constantly showers my sister and I with love, care, advise, and lots of cuddles! She’s an adventure seeker and the perfect companion for the Bridge Climb! I would give her the prize as a part of her Mother’s Day gift <3

  • Kiran says:

My soul mate, my husband. We just got out of a year long long distance relationship and this would be the perfect date night. Seeing the lights over the city that we now call home.

  • Ashlee Porter says:

My beautiful mum, she gives her 6 kids all she can and never buys herself anything. She truly deserves something special. It would be an amazing, unforgettable mother/ daughter experience.

  • Rosalind Zika says:

My amazing daughter!! I have been #theworstmotherever It’s been a super tough year for us, a year of downs more than ups.. climbing UP the Bridge could turn that around. I would love to do something like this with her. She is the most beautiful deserving kid, if you knew her I know that you would agree!!

  • Melanie says:

I’d take my boyfriend given he’s never seen Vivid despite having lived in Sydney his whole life. That said, he’s my rock and my world so I want him to experience the beauty and magic that is the Vivid light show so he knows how much beauty and magic he brings to my life.

  • Nick says:

I would take my girlfriend, as she has done so much for me in the past year, so I can think of nothing better than to treat her to another spectacular view. That being said, it is something I’d love to share with her, even though I am scared of heights. I can think of no one more deserving of this experience.

  • Sarah says:

A lot of these are over 30 words. I hope the winner is someone who stuck to the terms and conditions.
