Rejoice! The Grounds is Coming to the City

Eat, Restaurants, Sydney / 17 May 2017

It has stolen the hearts of food and social media lovers alike. Now The Grounds is heading to the city.

The Grounds is ready to bring a hint of country and Alexandrian charm to the CBD, when The Grounds of the City opens its doors in late May. An escape from the office, The Grounds is harping back era’s gone by, encouraging city dwellers to relax and unite in their love of good food and coffee.
Group Executive Chef, Paul McGrath and his team of food lovers look set to capture the ambience of old style service. As suit-wearers tread the pavement on George Street, they will be ready to send you on your way to work with morning coffees and shoe shiners. Every hint of The Grounds of the City has been intimately crafted to reignite their guests’ passion for interaction.
Beneath the mysterious gaze of antique theatre pendant lights, a tea trolley will roam the floor serving guests at their table. Salvaged timber floors and hand-crafted stained glass will add to the olden day ambience of this rejuvenated precinct.
Of course, no experience at The Grounds is complete without the food, and it will come from the pan straight to the table. Serving an all-day brasserie-inspired menu, the open view kitchen looks set to delight guests. If you can’t escape the office to dine in, this saviour for city workers will even offer takeaway meals and beverages.
If you are in desperate need of a pick me up after your commute into the city, then you will no doubt find yourself at the Barista’s Bar in no time. Coffee sommeliers will be on hand to perfectly craft your morning caffeine desires with the help of state of the art espresso making technology.
The Grounds of the City may be saying goodbye to the sprawling markets and its barn of animals in Alexandria, but something exciting awaits us in the city
