A two day taco and tequila festival is landing in The Rocks

Drink, Eat, Events, Sydney / 1 May 2019

Maracas and sombreros at the ready! Cinco de Mayo is almost here and you’re invited to the ultimate Mexican street fiesta.

Get your dose of tequila and tacos and celebrate Cinco de Mayo in style with the inaugural launch of this street fiesta. Hosted in The Rocks’ iconic Dawes Point Park, now is your chance to take in some of the best views of the harbour, all with a taco and margarita in hand.

Running from 4th-5th May, the party vibes are set to be at an all time high, the festival showcasing a range of authentic Mexican street eats and drinks. On the all-important food front, you’ll find famous Mexican deli Rosa Cienfuegos serving up her authentic Al Pastor tacos and tamales, with Neutral Bay’s SoCal, plant based Bad Hombres and Panama House bringing flavours of Central America to the table.

Mexican hotspot Chula are also making a coveted appearance over the course of the weekend, serving up Mexican fare alongside Tex Mex barbecue by chef Robert Morales. For the sweet tooths, gelato lords Messina will be there to cleanse the palate with a special Mexican inspired dessert.

It wouldn’t be a Mexican party without plenty of drinks, and thankfully these will be in no short supply with flowing Margaritas and Palomas, plus beer by Sol and Tecate. For those looking to learn more about tequila, you can also get involves in a series of tequila masterclasses.

Not just a fiesta for the tastebuds, you can also feast your eyes on the vibrant elements of Mexican culture with live street art installations by Skullavera, plus Latin American bands and Lucha Libre wrestling.
