Get ready for Sydney’s leading underground film festival, returning as a digital festival this September.
For the past 14 years, Sydney Underground Film Festival (SUFF) has been our city’s leading festival for cult and underground film. With the city in lockdown last September, the festival looked a little different. Instead of flocking to The Factory Theatre in the heart of the inner west, Sydneysiders will be able to tune into the 14th installment of SUFF online. This year, the festival will return as a digital festival from Thursday, September 9 to Sunday, September 26.
The second online program of SUFF delivers 18 jam-packed days of experimental, subversive and unhinged cinema, with film lovers able to screen each and every film from the comfort of their couch. The best bit? Tickets start at just $12 per session (with a complete festival pass setting you back $195).
This latest installment of SUFF offers an epic line-up of 30 feature films and documentaries, 20 Australian premieres, a special 40-year anniversary film and over 100 whacky shorts across 9 themed sessions.
As regular SUFF attendees will expect, this year’s digital festival will deliver all the iconic programs. The much-loved short film sessions OZPLOIT! (with a focus on Aussie short films) returns along with, WTF! (shorts designed to mess with your head), REALITY BITES (a series of bite-sized docos), LSD FACTORY (mind-bending short films) and LOVE/SICK (a series of not-so-romantic date night flicks). Plus, the 2021 festival will deliver a newer program, SH!T SCARED (dedicated to horror shorts).
Ready to start streaming? The 2021 SUFF online festival will be live online from 12:01am on September 9. Films are available to watch on-demand for the duration of the ten-day event. A single ticket for each session will be $12, with the complete online Festival pass available for $195, allowing audiences to watch the full festival offering at any time across its duration.
