Call Your Movie Mates Because Sydney Film Festival’s Hub Just Announced A FREE 2022 Line-Up

Cool Sh*t, Play, Sydney / 7 June 2022

The world’s best, strangest and most exciting cinema comes to Sydney 8-19 June 2022.

The heart of Sydney Film Festival action lies at the Festival Hub. Held at Town Hall, The Hub will showcase an immersive festival experience with filmmaker talks and panels, as well as themed parties – all but one of them FREE. With Sydney offering a whole platter of Things To Do In June, this has got to be the go-to for all our film fanatics.

Each day will see a dedicated post-screening talk from the festival filmmakers, giving aspiring filmmakers and film aficionados the opportunity to learn more about the filmmaking process from the people that made them. The Hub have also scheduled a whole reel of talks illuminating the many diverse voices within the filmmaking industry including: two-time Archibald winning artist/filmmaker Del Kathryn Barton (Blaze), the entertaining Jemaine Clement (Nude Tuesday), members of the ground-breaking Back to Back Theatre Company (Shadow), and more.

The Hub has lined up a host of spectacular performances to complement the film screenings. Top picks include an explosive street dance showcase, as featured in the new Australian documentary Keep Stepping, and a live acoustic session inspired by the new Aussie music festival flick 6 Festivals.

After dark, attend one of the vibrant afterparties designed to keep the post-film buzz going and immerse you in the world of films featured at the Festival: from a party celebrating NYC’s early 2000s music scene after the screening of Meet Me in The Bathroom. Bring your Pride and park your prejudice at the after-screening party of Fire Island, a new film inspired by Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice. Grab a partner and dance the night away.

The full line-up of screenings, events and parties can be found here. If you’d like to make the most of all the exclusive free events, look out for the ‘FREE’ icon in the calendar.

Open to the public throughout the entire festival, The Hub will also be home to a pop-up bar offering up weekday happy hour between 4.30 – 6pm. The bar will be pouring up liquid refreshments from drinks from Brix Distillers, Château Tanunda and Mountain Goat Beer. While you’re there, you’ll also be able to snap up discounted tickets for selected screenings at The Hub box office.
