Fire Up Your Sunday With An Authentic Asado At Casa Esquina

Eat, Sydney / 11 June 2024

Skip the snags, embrace the Asado! Casa Esquina’s fiery feast awaits on the last Sunday of every month.

Nestled on the corner of Balmain’s charming Elliott and Darling Streets, Casa Esquina offers a taste of Argentina in a beautifully restored Victorian mansion. Step inside, and you’ll be greeted by a vibrant space that seamlessly blends modern interiors with the raw energy of a central open flame parrilla. Lush greenery adds a touch of the exotic, transporting you to a world far away while simultaneously emphasising the restaurant’s deep connection to nature, food, and the joy of shared meals.

Sunday Asado Canapes

This Argentinian influence goes beyond the menu at Casa Esquina. It’s woven into the very fabric of the restaurant, from the central fire that crackles with warmth to the lively music that fills the air, creating a spirit of togetherness reminiscent of traditional Argentinian gatherings.

And if you’re looking for a truly transformative experience, look no further than Casa Esquina’s special Sunday Asado. Held on the last Sunday of June, July, and August, this event transforms the restaurant’s courtyard into a fire-fueled spectacle. The chefs take centre stage, expertly grilling Asado meats over the open flames, filling the air with the mouthwatering aroma of Argentinian barbecue.

The Asado menu itself is a celebration of Argentinian flavours. Expect an array of regional-inspired dishes, like oysters with a refreshing citrus granita, octopus tiradito with a touch of yuzu, and smoked chicken served with a creamy celeriac puree. The main course is a true Asado highlight – a combination of slow-cooked whole lamb and woodfire-grilled tomahawk steak, guaranteed to satisfy even the heartiest appetites. Plus these showstopping mains will be paired with a selection of seasonal vegetables like roasted pumpkin and charred cabbage ensuring a well-rounded dining experience, while traditional Argentinian sweet sides like humitas (corn dumplings) and sweet potato sopapillas with a spiced citrus glaze add a touch of sweet indulgence to the end of the meal.

With previous Asado events selling out quickly, be sure to book your spot online well in advance. The next Asado will be held on June 30th, followed by July 28th and August 25th. The set menu is priced at $150 per person, with beverages charged separately.
