Been chasing the sun? Get your skin checked and grab a beer with your mates all in one place this month.
A day at the beach isn’t complete with a six-pack, swag of snacks and your mates. But, what about remembering to pack the sunscreen? During the summer months its all too easy to forgot to slip, slop, slap. To lend you a helping hand, these Sydney pubs have teamed up with not-for-profit Aussie charity, Beard Season to help you take care of your skin.
Throughout the month of January, three of Merivale’s coastal venues will be hosting free skin checks. Flock to The Newport, Coogee Pavilion and The Collaroy to take advantage of this epic program, champion early detection to help fight one of the world’s deadliest cancers. Each check is performed by trained doctors and nurses in private huts, using revolutionary AI-based screening tech, with each check taking just 10-20 minutes to complete.
As the only Aussie charity entirely dedicated to early detection of melanoma, the crew from Beard Season are on a mission to raise awareness about the need for skin checks. And the stats speak for themselves, revealing that in more than 95% of cases melanoma can be successfully treated if found early (one of the highest survival rates of any cancer). The program hopes to get young Aussies on board, particularly blokes with the stats also showing that men are the most likely to get melanoma and also the least likely to visit a doctor’s office.
These Summer Skin Check Sessions are designed to be as easy as possible for punters to do this summer. Simply rock up to the venue, put your name on the list and sit back with a beer in hand until you receive a text from one of their trained Check Mates.
