Owners of El Phoenician open new neighbouring venture in Walsh Bay, Seventeen.
Walsh Bay has just been granted a brand new restaurant and deli, Seventeen. This new 100-seater restaurant by the owners of the neighbouring establishment El Phoenician, is set to open its doors on Thursday 7 December. A lucky number for the family, not to mention the address of the venue on Hickson Road, Seventeen’s aesthetic pays homage to its nautical setting, showcasing a colour palate inspired by the sea teamed with other nautical features.
The menu offers a cleverly thought out amalgamation of Australia’s paddock and plentiful sea, teamed with the rich heritage of its vineyards. The result is an unique dining concept, curated by chef Clint Jaeger (ex Tetsuya’s, Banc, Bill’s and Hugos).
The breakfast menu features light dishes such as bircher muesli with seasonal fruit plus a cooling acai coco bowl teamed with almond meal and honey salted cashews. On the more indulgent end of the brunch spectrum are dishes such as ricotta hot cakes topped with Callebaut chocolate and honeycomb butter and corn fritters with semi-dried truss tomatoes, creamed avocado puree, poached eggs and feta.
Traveling over to the lunch list, you’ll find dishes inspired by Australia’s dynamic seascape. Think fresh Yamba prawns chilled over flaked ice, lobster rolls, charcuterie boards and cheese platters teamed with summer fruits and walnut bread. An all Australian wine list feeds into this celebration of all things locally sourced.
For dinner, expect delights such as summer asparagus with twice-cooked, coddled, brioche crumbed egg and truffle pecorino, plus Otway crispy skin pork belly, with fresh peach, candied mustard fruits and sweet potato chips.
Takeout options are also available, with the deli serving up a carefully curated selection of Australian charcuterie and cheeses for you to take home.
