An immersive after-hours experience dedicated to plants is coming to Marrickville

Drink, Play, Sydney / 25 November 2019

The wonders of plants, science, light and sound collide at Poor Toms Gin Hall for one-night-only.

A trip to Bunnings or our nearest plant shop can easily end with armfuls of new plant pals. Because every room in our apartment deserves a bit of living colour, right? But within a couple of weeks, our new-found friends can start looking a little worse-for-wear (particularly if we’ve never mastered the art of growing indoor plants).

Aspiring plant parents, here’s just the event to help your potted pals grow and thrive for months to come. The team behind the Plant Life Balance app (designed to promote the health and wellbeing benefits of plants) has teamed up with Sydney-based producer and multi-instrumentalist, Anatole for Plantasia, a one-night-only event dedicated the wonder of plants. On December 4th from 7-9pm, the event pays homage to Mort Garson’s 1976 cult album Mother Earth’s: Plantasia for an evening of live music, talks and cocktails courtesy of Poor Toms Gin.

Taking place in the leafy converted-warehouse space of Marrickville’s Poor Toms Gin Hall, guests will be treated to a one-off performance by Anatole as he perform his interpretation of warm earth music for plants and people who love ‘em. To set the scene for this performance, light projection duo Tszuj will accompany Anatole as they map the walls with psychedelic fragments of our natural world.

Plus, host and pioneering plantfluencer Jason Chongue will be joined by plant behaviour expert, Dr. Monica Gagliano for an in-depth discussion into the relationship between music and sound. The duo will tackle everything from how houseplants are affected by music to the unique ways in which plants communicate.

This relaxed plant-focused evening is topped off with a cocktail on arrival from the crew at Poor Toms Gin. Grab your crew and head along for an immersive evening unlike anything you’ve experienced before.
