Payo Launches The World’s First ‘Eat Now, Pay Later’ App

Cool Sh*t, Restaurants, Sydney / 15 September 2021

Just in time for the reopening of restaurants, Payo has launched an all-new ‘buy now, pay later’ app that has changed the dining game forever!

Have you ever wished there was an Afterpay for food? Well, Australian-founded company Payo is making all your dreams come true with the launch of their ‘buy now, pay later (BNPL) app. After a successful launch in Brisbane earlier this year, the company has expanded its offering to partner with restaurants across Sydney and Melbourne.

The concept was established to encourage more customers to dine out after lockdown, thus helping to revive the hospitality industry which has been significantly impacted by COVID-19. Partnering restaurants in Brisbane have seen an increase in traffic into the restaurant as well as a higher average spend per head. It gives customers the opportunity to tick restaurants off their bucket list and still manage their cash flow.

How does it work? The app works the same as BNPL technologies like Afterpay, but this is the hospitality version. Customers can eat and drink at partner restaurants, cafes and bars and pay the bill in four fortnightly installments with zero interest. Simply show the QR code for a contactless experience and payo will do the rest.

The app functionality allows diners to discover new places to eat, filtered by location, cuisine, offers and more. Customers can call restaurants directly to make a booking via the app, track their spendings and receive exclusive offerings from selected partnering restaurants.

So which restaurants are offering payo? More than 500 restaurants, cafes and bars have already partnered with payo. Diners can search, book and pay at the likes of Sydney’s Butter, Tokki and Khoi, as well as Melbourne’s ever-popular Morris Jones, Asian Beer Cafe and Bomba Bar.

While Sydney-siders are not able to fully embrace the dining scene due to the current lockdown, payo will be ready and waiting for you when it is safe to do so!
