Dreaming of jetting off to the land of tacos and tequila this festive season? Thanks to this unique pop-up bar, you’ll save yourself the airfares of a trip abroad with the best of Mexico hitting Sydney shores this summer.
The Patrón Pop Up brings a taste of Mexico to the Sydney Harbour foreshore, coming to the front of the Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA) now until 16th February 2020. The bar will be open every Wednesday to Sunday, providing the perfect spot to spend a summer evening overlooking the water with one of the world’s ultra-premium spirits in hand thanks to the team at Patrón. Taking inspiration from the unique cuisine Mexico City is famous for, the bar’s menu has been curated by Simon Fox, Food Director Culinary Edge. Diners can expect a fresh summer menu with subtle references to the paired cocktail list.
“It was important that the food complimented the tequilas and I did this by keeping the flavours light, zingy and as fresh as possible incorporating limes, green tomatoes, fennel, pomegranate and chilli. We included pickled cactus and achiote in the mix in line with the Mexican heritage of the brand,” explains Simon.
Sample your way through a menu of bar snacks and tostadas packed with flavour. Start with a bowl of Margarita Spice Popcorn ($5) or Chilli Lime Peanuts ($5) before moving onto traditional nixtamal tortilla tostadas, packed with fresh ingredients and fillings including pork, salmon, mole Verde and cactus. For just $8 each (or three for $20), taste your way through flavours such as Flaked Fennel Salt Crusted Roasted Salmon, Slow Cooked Pulled Pork w’ Achiote, Citrus & Apple Cider Vinegar, Pickled Eggplant w’ Red Chilli & Sage and much more.
To wash it all down, the Patrón Pop Up will be serving up 100% agave Patrón tequilas mixed into tasty summer cocktails. From the Patrón Silver Lime & Soda ($14) to the Patrón Silver Classic Margarita ($22) and even the Patrón Silver Espresso Martini ($20), there’s a drink to suit every taste on this menu. Want to turn your afternoon into a self-guided walking tour? The Art of Patrón precinct has partnered with three of the CBD’s top bars (The Argyle, Quay Bar and Bar Patrón), all within an easy 10-minute stroll of the MCA pop up bar. Stop by each venue to sample unique mixes and cocktails showcasing the Patrón Tequila at its best.
