Whiskey enthusiasts and connoisseurs rejoice, NOLA Smokehouse and Bar in Sydney’s Barangaroo will be playing host to Rye July, offering the perfect whiskey pairings, flights and even a masterclass. Whether you’re a novice looking to learn more about the fine spirit, or an expert keen to sample some of the best rye whiskeys in the country, there’s plenty on offer to keep your cockles warm during the winter months.
Whiskey and chocolate go together like fish and chips and to celebrate this magical pairing, NOLA will be hosting Rye & Chocolate pairings all July. Teaming up with Oh Boo Chocolates, you can sample a decadent whiskey and chocolate flight for $85. Four rye whiskeys have been teamed with a selection of sweet, salty and spicy chocolates. If savoury is more to you’re liking NOLA is also offering Rye & Charcuterie. For $120 a pop, indulge in a generous charcuterie board that’s been matched with four rye whiskeys. Again, no bookings required.
Beyond these pairings, guests can alternatively opt for The Rye Flight. Available all July at $65pp, taste the distinctive flavours that different rye content and age brings out. The four rye whiskeys included in this flight are: Pikesville Rye, Koval Rye, Whistlepig 10yo Rye and Willet Straight Rye.
As a special once-off event, NOLA will also be playing host to an exclusive Rye Masterclass on Saturday 14th July. Running over 2 hours, punters will be guided by rye whiskey expert and SouthTrade International Spirits Ambassador Gee David, who’ll steer you through the history and production of the spirit.
