Take a journey through the sun-drenched Mediterranean at Mister Percy, Pyrmont’s new pinchos and wine bar.
Pyrmont certainly isn’t short of great food hangouts, and now adding to this dynamic neighbourhood is a new Mediterranean-inspired wine bar and kitchen, Mister Percy. Housed in the heritage-inspired designer hotel, Ovolo 1888 Darling Harbour, the doors are officially open of this former wool-store, with acclaimed chef Justin North at the helm. North brings with him a raft of experience from the likes of A Tavola and Catalina.
This former 19th century warehouse fronting Murray Street has been reimagined by Sydney interior designers, Luchetti Krelle, melding vintage decor with the contemporary to create an eclectic bistro-style aesthetic.
On the food menu, you’ll find a range of pinchos (skewered snacks) along with larger share-style dishes. Taste your way through the likes of Manchego, prosciutto and picholine olives or crushed broad beans, bocconcini, sage and lemon croute. As for the larger plates, expect the likes of citrus-cured Hiramasa Kingfish, Verjuice and Carasau Bread, Gnochetti with zucchini plus more.
In the words of Justin North, “We’re taking our diners on a journey throughout the sun-drenched Mediterranean and showcasing the best local ingredients. We’ve drawn on flavours from around the Mediterranean arc and it’s not surprising that it’s exactly what we like to eat and drink here.”
As for the drinks, Ovolo Hotel’s Group Wine Curator, Shun Eto, has collaborated with Justin and Luca to curate the 100-strong list mainly of Mediterranean-style wines and varietals. In keeping with the Mediterranean theme, wines are offered by quartino (250ml pours) and have been chosen to closely accompany the food offering.
Expect classic cocktails including the Negroni and Aperol Spritz, plus a strong selection of aperitifs and digestifs. The beer list is set to teeter between locally sourced craft brews and European classics, including the Spanish Moritz Lager and Italy’s beloved beer, Peroni.
Open Mon-Sat 5pm-11pm (kitchen closes at 10pm); Sunday 5pm-10pm (kitchen closes at 9pm).
