Mezcal March at Tio's Cerveceria

Bars, Drink, Events, Sydney / 9 March 2016

This month Tio’s Cerveceria puts the spotlight on tequila’s big but lesser known hermano, mezcal. Mezcal March will see the Surry Hills bar celebrate the agave-based spirit in all its forms, as well as host the inaugural Mezcal Mini Fest at the end of the month.
Despite being distilled in Mexico for over 200 years, mezcal has only recently become popular around the world. So what better way to raise awareness of this unique spirit than to host a month long toast with bespoke cocktails, straight shots and signature serves? Indeed, the first Mezcal March presents this oft-misunderstood spirit in its prime condition and features agave distillates drawn from a 30-year process.

Part of the month’s festivities is the Mezcal Mini Fest on Sunday March 27. It will see eight of Australia’s best agave importers get together and present a free tasting of all their mezcals. Ghostboy Cantina will also be dishing out their delicious Asian-Mexican fusion tacos. And if that wasn’t enough, there will be a rather relaxed roundtable discussion on all things agave. Clearly, Mezcal Mini Fest is the perfect opportunity to experience the unique, smoky beauty that the spirit has to offer.
