Expect a 3-metre tall waterfall, firepit and bold futuristic interiors at the luxe fine diner, Meu Jardim.
As far as dramatic dining rooms go, this new opening has to be one of Sydney’s most impressive. In fact, it’s the kind of restaurant designed to surprise and delight. And like so many venues, Meu Jardim was forced to close its doors just weeks after opening due to the pandemic. But now, the French fine diner has re-emerged, ready to deliver a dose of high-end French dishes to Sydneysiders.
It’s not hard to spot Meu Jardim, located down Skittle Lane in the heart of the CBD. This glowing futuristic oasis looks like a scene straight out of Blade Runner, with the restaurant aglow with neon lights and glossy white pearl finishes. The venue is the latest project from restauranteur Ussi Moniz Da Silva, helping to bring this epic $4.1 million fit-out to life.
Split across two levels, Meu Jardim delivers an upscale contemporary French dining room upstairs as well as a more casual bistro and bar downstairs. Executive Chef Jason McCauley leads the charge in the restaurant, boasting an impressive oyster shucking station, open kitchen and decadent menu of re-imagined French classics.
On the menu you’ll find everything from W.A. lobster tail with torched scallop, persimmon and prosciutto crumb to escargot with garlic, champagne and butter to the lavish 1.2kg of grass-fed ‘Pinnacle’ Gippsland Tomahawk Mbs2+ with roasted garlic and red wine jus (which will set you back a cool $170).
Downstairs expect a more relaxed, budget-friendly offering of bar snacks like olives, chicken liver parfait, charcuterie and cheeses. Plus you’ll be able to tuck into more substantial bites such as the classic Croque Madame with ham, cheese, fried egg and fries or even a grilled 1/4 chicken with fires and watercress salad.
Make sure to nab a seat next to the restaurant’s 40-person firepit, with a glass of Australian or French wine or a signature cocktail. Whilst this ambitious spot has been created to seat 330 guests, due to COVID-19 restrictions the venue is welcoming just 50 diners through their doors.
Meu Jardim is now open down Skittle Lane, open Mon to Thur (12pm to 12am) and Fri to Sat (4pm to 12pm). To find out more and book your spot (which we advise you do), click here.
