With events cancels, festivals postponed and restaurants facing an uncertain future, we’re thrilled to share a piece of good news. As one of the few major events going ahead in Sydney, the 22nd Biennale of Sydney has kicked off for 2020, bringing another year of dynamic contemporary art to the heart of the city. This exciting cultural event brings artists from around the globe to Sydney for a series of exhibitions and events throughout autumn bi-annually and is set to continue this tradition in 2020.
Amidst all the changes to public gatherings, the event is working alongside the government to ensure this free public event is able to continue welcoming guests (in-line with advice from the World Health Organisation and NSW Department of Health). At the time of publication (March 18th 2020), this event is still going ahead and is excited to give Sydneysiders an opportunity to show their support for the arts and hospitality industries across our city. For foodies, the festival is set to welcome another exciting addition, Mary’s On The Edge. Set on Cockatoo Island, the crew from Mary’s Group have launched a full-service bistro and takeaway pop-up restaurant, dishing up some of the group’s most iconic dishes.
“The Biennale is a world-renowned arts festival and we couldn’t be more thrilled to be involved,” tells Mary’s Co-Founders, Jake Smyth and Kenny Graham. “It will also be the first restaurant to provide what we’re creatively calling “Mary’s Groups Greatest Hits!” Think Mary’s burgers, Mary’s pizza and Unicorn schnitty’s all under one roof!”
That’s right, you can score everything from the famous Mary’s Burger to The Unicorn’s Chicken Schnitzel and even Mary’s Pizzeria’s Detroit style pizza (and so much more). Plus, diners can even sample new dishes such as Mary’s Caesar salad and various sandwiches on offer. To wash it all down, drinks (including natural wine, craft beer, cider and more) will come courtesy of the crew from P&V Wine Merchants.
Mary’s On The Edge will be open at The Biennale of Sydney at Cockatoo Island 7 days a week from 10am, with the event running from March 14th to June 18th 2020. To find out more, click here.
